Goodwyn saying trans cannot achieve their dreams because changed genders

The term transgender is about as clear as looking at a cupboard where all the labels have been removed from the cans. You don’t know what you’re getting until you open the can to see what is inside. Is it a transsexual, who will go physically from one sex to the other; someone who uses the clothing of the opposite sex as sexual fetish items; someone who uses the clothing of the opposite sex as emotional fetish items (transvestites /crossdressers/ full time crossdressers (aka transgenderist) etc. Of this total group only the transsexuals will need psychological and hormone therapy and will eventually receive sex reassignment surgery. Oh, don’t include those of us who were born both

Why shouldn’t 1/10 of one percent have the opportunity to destroy all that women have achieved since Title IX.

Your parents are liars, kid. The lie that individual effort/grit/spunk can overcome all obstacles is useful when you want to blame marginalized populations for any disadvantages they may face, and thus is much beloved among the righties; but it is a lie for all that. So is the zero-sum notion that any attempt to mitigate those disadvantages must disadvantage others.

Other than anecdotes that fear monger, what do you got?

A while ago, a right wing friend sent me a piece on a Vermont (I believe) Christian school that withdrew from a state tournament rather than play against a team with a transgender athlete. So, I looked up the tournament and found that the team that advanced due to the forfeit got beat, badly, in their next game. Yet, the chatter was how unfair it was to the team that HAD to forfeit.

My question for those who oppose their inclusion would be WHY would any kid go through this if it were not a real issue for them?

Much as I hate to agree with Mr. Goodwynn here, he has a point. This is not about your genitals. It’s about your perception of your gender does not match your body. The way I see it, if you were afflicted with this there are two choices, accept the fact there is a mismatch between your gender and your body or change your appearance to match your perceived gender.

If you choose the latter, you can really only change your appearance, it’s cosmetic, though. You will die with the body you were born with, you can’t change that. And males have a distinct advantage in athletics. They are stronger, faster and more aggressive. Their bodies have made them that way. You don’t agree, then tell me why we’re not having this conversation about men’s sports and transgender men.

Mr. Goodwynn and company make all kinds strange assumptions and disingenuous arguments (really, you think men change gender to compete with women?), but their core point has merit. Trans women have an unfair advantage over women athletes.

Was it the melding of the bible belt, Dixiecrat, segregationist, etc voters with the GOP — after the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts were passed in the mid ’60s — that transformed the once inclusive intellectual socially-progressive/fiscally-conservative party into the exclusive seemingly under-educated under-achieving members-only faction … that rejects those with different views?

There is no actual evidence that supports the banning of trans athletes from women’s sports. (Including one high profile case—the n of one fallacy). In fact, there is a growing body of evidence that suggests that trans athletes do not have an unfair advantage over cisgender athletes.

A study published in the journal “Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise” found that transgender women who had undergone hormone therapy for at least one year had no significant advantage over cisgender women in terms of muscle mass, strength, or power.

Another study, published in the journal “PLOS One,” found that transgender women who had undergone hormone therapy for at least one year had no significant advantage over cisgender women in terms of running speed .

The position that would ban trans athletes from women’s sports is political, motivated by misinformation or bigotry.

Banning trans athletes from women’s sports is harmful to both transgender people and women’s sports. It denies transgender people the opportunity to participate in sports and it reinforces the idea that transgender people are not real women.

Conservatives protest too much, methinks.

The cartoon displays a logical conclusion — if there are categories of Those People that you don’t consider to be actual human beings, right Al?

It is not hate for the trans folks, it is a sense of fairness for female athletes. Males claiming to be females have a distinct physical advantage in the vast majority of situations.

The same people in a panic over trans people competing in sports will turn around & tell you women’s sports isn’t worth their attention.

They didn’t lie if the problem is that they didn’t know you wouldn’t try…

The Nazis came to power on January 30, 1933. Shortly thereafter, they sought to dismantle the visible gay cultures and networks that had developed during the Weimar Republic. One of the Nazis’ first actions against gay communities was to close gay bars and other meeting spots. For example, in late February/early March 1933, in response to a Nazi order, the Berlin police closed numerous bars. Among them was the Eldorado, which had become a prominent symbol of Berlin’s gay culture. Similar closings of gay meeting places occurred across Germany. However, in cities like Berlin and Hamburg, some established gay bars were able to remain open until the mid-1930s. Underground gay meeting places remained open even later. Nonetheless, the Nazi closures and increased police surveillance made it far more difficult for gay men to connect with each other.

Another early action undertaken by the Nazi regime was the elimination of gay newspapers, journals, and publishing houses. Newspapers had been one of the primary means of communication in Germany’s gay communities. The Nazi regime also forced gay associations to dissolve. In May 1933, the Nazis vandalized Magnus Hirschfeld’s Institute for Sexual Sciences and ultimately forced it to close. Part of this action included destroying Hirschfeld’s writings in Nazi book burnings. These book burnings targeted works written by prominent Jewish intellectuals, pacifists, and left-wing authors. The destruction of the institute was a clear sign that the Nazis would not tolerate the reformist sexual policies that the institute promoted.

Sound familiar? It gets worse for all marginalized groups. This is happening right now in the USA with the beginnings of persecution of those not falling in line with the new christian nationalism explosion. We need to organize and stop these haters soon, or we will see the end of Liberty, Equality and Justice for all in the USA.

Meanwhile, another educator at a “Christian” school was arrested for molesting children. Starting to see a pattern, here? It seems like it’s a daily thing, now that pastors or professors at “Christian” schools are arrested for molestations and pedophilia. And please note that Abilene Christian University professor Charles Wadlington is not a drag queen.

And six people, including three children, died after the 376th school shooting since Columbine. We have learned nothing. Children are being slaughtered, and one side of the aisle (the pro-life side) doesn’t care, and focused their hatred and laws against the LGBTQ community.

This shooting occurred at a private Christian school in Nashville by a 28-year-old female shooter armed with at least two AR-15s and a handgun. So, it’s not because of a lack of prayers in the school. It’s not because of a lack of Jesus. It’s because our country is saturated with firearms.

Don’t worry. The GOP will “protect” children by persecuting teachers, schools, colleges with “forbidden” classes, passing laws against non-existent CRT, the LGBTQ community, minorities, and are happily banning thousands of books (non-fiction and fiction) on anything the Party decides is Verboten, such as “wokeness”. The prudes put a fig leaf on Michelangelo’s classic statue, ‘David’ in the 16th century, and now the holy-roller GOP has decided art like Michelangelo’s is “Pornographic.”

The religiously inspired prove once again their ignorance makes them the worst people on the planet. The rest of us understand transgender isn’t something you choose, any more than choosing to be right or left-handed. The rest of us understand we all live along the spectrum in both natal and gender identity, where girls like the Williams sisters are not excluded from playing women’s Tennis just because they lie closer to the male end of the spectrum. The rest of us understand that treating transgender girls and boys as though they are somehow damaged is no less vile than those who treat people of a different skin color the same way. The rest of us understand we are not going to allow the religiously inspired to feed on their ignorance at the expense of others.

Euphemisms, always euphemisms. “Religiously Inspired” or not, bigotry in the name of one’s invisible deity is still bigotry.

Well at least the laws are beginning to be passed to stop this nonsense. I mean really who here believes that having men in women’s sports was a good idea. First how much money in scholarships will women lose. How much in indorsement. And who wants to see some guy with or without his twig and berries?

Wow, Goodwyn really does think females are weak if he seriously thinks all of the female athletes in the world can be completely defeated by a handful of trans athletes. Jack 7528 I was born with a hermaphroditic condition; Things noted in the sports arena, 1. I throw overhand worse than most women, 2. When a university did a running survey studying strides taken by the runners, my marathon number was identified as female, even though I have a masculine appearance. I do not identify as trans anything; while I have been both from birth, I am neither. And those identifying as trans, are they transvestite, crossdressers, transgenderist (fulltime crossdressers) or tran$$exuals? The hormones will radically change the latter and the former should not be on hormones.
