Is the deficit only important when there’s a Democrat in the White House, or just overlooked when Republicans create most of the deficits?

Deficits are unimportant when they fund tax cuts to the wealthy who fund the GOP.

What other American could own a dog that has bitten 24 people or more and the dog was not seized and put down. And why do we only find out now given the “transparent” administration.

Tax Cuts Are Primarily Responsible for the Increasing Debt RatioWithout the Bush and Trump tax cuts, debt as a percentage of the economy would be declining permanently.

Introduction and summaryThe need to increase the debt limit1 has focused attention on the size and trajectory of the federal debt. Long-term projections show2 that federal debt as a percentage of the U.S. economy is on a path to grow indefinitely, with increased noninterest spending due to demographic changes such as increasing life expectancy, declining fertility, and decreased immigration and rising health care costs permanently outstripping revenues under projections based on current law. House Republican leaders have used this fact to call for spending cuts,3 but it does not address the true cause of rising debt: Tax cuts initially enacted during Republican trifectas in the past 25 years slashed taxes disproportionately for the wealthy and profitable corporations, severely reducing federal revenues. In fact, relative to earlier projections, spending is down, not up. But revenues are down significantly more. If not for the Bush tax cuts4 and their extensions5—as well as the Trump tax cuts6—revenues would be on track to keep pace with spending indefinitely, and the debt ratio (debt as a percentage of the economy) would be declining. Instead, these tax cuts have added $10 trillion to the debt since their enactment and are responsible for 57 percent of the increase in the debt ratio since 2001, and more than 90 percent of the increase in the debt ratio if the one-time costs of bills responding to COVID-19 and the Great Recession are excluded. Eventually, the tax cuts are projected to grow to more than 100 percent of the increase.Tax cuts initially enacted during Republican trifectas in the past 25 years slashed taxes disproportionately for the wealthy and profitable corporations, severely reducing federal revenues.

$10 Trillion in Added US Debt Since 2001 Shows ‘Bush and Trump Tax Cuts Broke Our Modern Tax Structure’“In their blind loyalty to their mega-donors, Republicans’ fixation on giant tax cuts for billionaires has created a revenue problem that is driving up our national debt,” said Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse in response to new Treasury Department figures.J

When the republican trump was president, republicans controlled both houses and the white house.

The republicans voted three times to raise the debt ceiling for trump, then they suspended the debt ceiling.

And then the republicans gave already rich people 2.3 trillion dollars in tax the deficit to a record-breaking 7.8 trillion dollars.

And after all that spending, the only thing trump improved was the lives of people who were as rich as trump.

Together, not only did the republicans, and trump, the idiot they serve fearfully and faithfully, fail to improve the job market in this country, they made it worse.

trump left office with fewer jobs available in this country.

The last time that happened in the country was during the great depression, under republican president hoover.

when republicans have the majority, they spend like drunken sailors, and the worst part is, they NEVER spend money on anybody who’s not rich.

And when a democrat takes over, THEN the republicans clutch the pearls and complain about an administration spending money on food programs for impoverished children, infrastructure improvement in dilapidated areas, and getting people out from under inescapable student debt.

The republicans are lying hypocrites, still pushing the trickle down fairytale, and pretending to be God-fearing people whose religion tells them they should let the poorest among us remain hungry and without shelter.

They love the unborn, until those unborn have the nerve to actually show up alive.

    Pathetic

Both parties bear responsibility. Trump policies increased the federal debt by $8.4 trillion; Biden policies increased debt by $3.9 trillion. [Barron’s 19 Feb 24)

goodwyn didn’t complain when trump brought the deficit up to a record-breaking 7.8 trillion dollars but he’s talking about it now, because, republicans.

Also, there’s nothing else he can talk about.

he can’t find a way to put a positive spin on:

the new attacks against women via embryos,

or the latest dismal failure of the republican fbi informant,

or trump’s continued, cascading failures in court,

or the murder of Navalny, or trump saying he’s in the same situation as Navalny, because the judges won’t let trump get away with his crimes, and trump being too cowardly to even mention putin’s name, much less condemn him for the crime,

or the republican house STILL not getting ANYTHING done without the permission of trump, the fat fascist they fear and serve,

even though he holds no office.

But sure, a deficit not as bad as trump’s and a dog.

    Coward

goodwyn must live in a fantasy world “You just have to dream to make it real.”

Willy Wonka song "♫There is no life I know

    To compare with pure imagination♫

    ♫Living there you’ll be free

If you truly wish to be?♫"

I thought, by now, the goof would have mentioned the $500,000,000.00 fine, his messiah has to pay, but…no.

You want to lower the deficit. Elect Dems. Check the stats. Dems, while not very aware of their deficit spending, are more aware than Repubs. The very party of deficit cutbacks, are themselves the deficit leaders.

Our ccuntry is $34.3 Trillion dollars in debt as of today. Watch that debt time clock spin. Uncle Sam is spending 38% more than he take in. 11% of the budget goes just to interest on the debt. Joe Biden is giving away money left and right. He is not the first president and not the last to contribute to the debt, he’s just doing a better of job of giving it away than others. You know what happens when you pay the minimum on your credit card but continue to spend. Months down the road you have a serious financial problem. Our nation does too.

After the first bite most people would take caution. After the 2nd or 3rd bites would leave the dog alone. What is their ‘Secret’?

Reagan tripled our National Debt, Bush2 tripled it again and tRump blew it away. Obama paid down our National Debt, and Biden had paid it down twice. Every Republican/conservative Administration since 1929 has had a recession or depression, some had two. Republican/conservatives have proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that they cannot manage an economy, and are incapable of governing.

I heard that Biden said he is use to work with racist senators like Strom Thurmond but that the repulican party or politicans are worse- so does that mean he would rather work with people like him – people that are racists…just curious – inquiring minds want to know

I am always amused by how the dems respond to their view point being challenged or disagreed with as they mostly go ballistic and rant in ways Trump could learn from them. But bless their hearts as they get angry so easy.
