Does Janis work? She seems awfully keen on spending a buck for things she already has. If she had to put forth the effort in earning the dollars for new furniture, sheâd probably find the furniture she has to be quite sufficient!
Noooo! Donât just throw away the harmonica! Hmm, maybe itâs one of those cheap plastic ones that never really worked. And I guess itâs not just young people who donât want âold, brownâ furniture.
We keep talking about getting a real sofa for the entertainment room and ditching the futon. Going on four years, but as you might guess, we havenât done much entertaining since Jan. 2020.
Scrapped my old couch and didnât have one. Later bought a 2 door Jeep Wrangler with a back seat, I didnât need. I got it disconnected and built a base and now it is my couch with a throw over it.
For some, moving is just the excuse they need to go shopping! New furniture⊠and of course with new furniture you need new drapes, paint color, carpetingâŠeverything! Typically unplanned and added to the debt pile at the end, at least in my experience.
Canât recall where I heard this saying but I can testify to its truthfulness. People should move at least every 10 years just to get rid of all the junk they have accumulated
One of my greatest joys in the last couple of years was finally getting rid of the old, cat-damaged arm chairs and sofa we originally inherited from my grandparents-in-law about 30 years ago and replacing it with beautiful new arts and crafts furniture. Made the whole room look better. Of course, we still have the cats, so when thereâs no company over, the chairs keep on their slip covers (nice cloth ones) to keep the kittiesâ claws at bay.
Friend of ours retired early and moved back to his home state this summer. Sold or gave away anything that didnât fit in his SUV. Said while he liked his things, it was less expensive and less hassle than moving everything, and he liked the idea of having a fresh start.
I have a bureau that I bought from a second hand store for my first apartment 50 years ago. Itâs a great, well made piece of furniture. It has moved many times.

My Janis and I never have yard sales. Instead, we donate everything that we no longer need or want to our local St. Vincent de Paul or Salvation Army.
If something is not good enough to donate, we put it in the alley for the scavengers and âjunk men.â Poof. Gone in sixty seconds.

Panel 3 makes it look like Arlo just passed a star. Why is pain represented with a star and a squiggly line underneath?
