Well, you start the day, well clothed, but as the day goes on, you strip another layer off

Many men don’t have this obsession with body image. Too bad it’s still so ingrained in women.

All the leaves are brown, and the sky is gray.

Arlo, this comment shouldn’t come as a surprise to you as she is delighted every Autumn to wear such outfits for the very same reason. But one has to realize there are some thoughts only your spouse can verbalize that you are not allowed initiate without huge repercussions!

It is a very good thing that you didn’t begin today’s conversation with “I love October…the leaves are turning, the sky is blue, the day’s are crisp and cool, and that sweater really hides your flab and fat so well!” This would fall under the “Only your spouse can say this” umbrella!

Fall signals the onset of the Holiday season, which in turn contribute to my flab and fat! At least until there’s enough ice to go ice drinking, I mean fishing!

Cold, overcast, oak trees dropping branches, acorns and leaves. Blow off the driveway, turn around – more debris.

It’s a trap! Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New years, Super bowl followed by Valentines day. All are overeating events! At least by March, we’re too heavy to blow away!

For me, I’m at my fittest in October after a spring and summer of outside activities. It is in early spring, when it is time to shed clothes that I have a problem with.

Need to make that move to the Gulf Coast so you can spend autumn repairing roofs, cutting trees, and filling generators with gasoline that isn’t there. And that’s if you’re lucky.

Was she directing that statement towards Arlo or herself. Plus my lawn is pretty dried up in area because of our drought. It’s is only green in areas where i have watered my fall bloomers, like my mums. The leaves have started falling earlier than usual and the leaves that are left are changing earlier as well.

“Go, sit upon the lofty hill,

    And turn your eyes around,

Where waving woods and waters wild

    Do hymn an autumn sound.

The summer sun is faint on them —

    The summer flowers depart —

Sit still — as all transform’d to stone,

    Except your musing heart."

.From “The Autumn” by Elizabeth Barrett Browing.

Kaleidoscope of color here, pine trees, mixed in with the yellows and oranges. Doesnt match New England, but pretty cool for a country boy.

For personal reasons – I hate October and especially Halloween!

Before Covid husband (starting when he was “boyfriend”) would take me to the PA Dutch country for Halloween as there is (at least was) a lot less of it there. One can go in a restaurant for dinner and not be served by a female football player covered in dirt and have their table bussed by a science experiment gone wrong and covered in blood as happened here the last time we went out for my birthday – and this was a fancy place with a dance band, etc.
