    Honk If You Agree!

My parents own a drive-thru coffee shop. It’s a mom-and-pop kind of place; people come for the service and quality. Drive-thru is a perk, but you order and are served at the window, not fast-food style.

One day, this car in line just starts honking away. They’re not trapped in the drive-thru and can easily pull away, but instead, they sit behind a person who has just placed their order and honk away.

When they finally get to the window, my dad asks:

    Dad: “Was that you honking?”

    Customer: Impatiently “Well, yeah.”

Dad: “We don’t serve rude people.”

With that, he closed the window on them! They started honking again, but my dad told them if they didn’t leave, he’d call the police on them for trespassing. The honking mysteriously stopped after that…

Good advice. My husband makes the weirdest sound in his throat while he’s eating. I’ve had to learn how to tune it out since he can’t seem to help it.

    Chew-Chew Charlie was an Engineer

His loud sound of mastication was

    Very nauseating to hear.

    The crunching of his munching

Caused all his girlfriends to wince,

But finally one of them ignored it

And they have gotten married since.

Men, You may want to look at the way she eats (and drinks) and listen for the noises she makes when she eats (and drinks), too. [While you’re at it, try to be more aware your own sights and sounds.]

I never had a problem with my husband’s chewing.

I have a condition called misophonia. It makes chewing and mouth noises unbearable for me. Sort of like nails on a blackboard for others.

Every person is flawed. The trick to a lasting relationship is finding someone whose flaws you can tolerate, and they can tolerate yours. Ask yourself every day: “What would it be like to be married to me?” Answer it honestly; then strive to be better in your behavior — regardless of whether your partner reciprocates.

I can think of a lot of things more irritating than chewing.

I had a friend who used to bang his teeth together when he chewed. Very weird.
