I guess there’s something to be said about being single, you don’t have to worry about those mind traps. Of course being retired and of advanced age it’s hard enough to remember what day of the week it is.

I used to surprise my wife with cards and gifts for no reason at all. All I really had to do was catch the big ones: Christmas, birthday, anniversary.
It’s harder to do now since we are both retired. So, I’ll kidnap her for lunch every now and then.

When the wife pulls that on me I have the deer in the headlights look. I actually keep important dates on the calendar on my phone, no surprises.
