Years ago we bought a really little one at target with the cutest foreign graphics for ten bucks or less and it made amazing ice cream! Haven’t used it a while… should dig it out…
My cousin made ice cream in the 1960s, I know ice and salt to make the ice colder was involved, but it was cold when done, I do not think it had to be frozen, I know it was time consuming and hard to make!
Mine has a container that is frozen. There is a liquid in the walls. So when it is churned for 30 minutes, it is ready to serve. Time to make peach ice cream too.
Remember Snow Ice Cream? Pretty tasty if made right, if made wrong, a bit… gritty. And you had to eat it all right after making it, didn’t store in the freezer at all well…
What kind of ice cream maker makes ice cream that must be “ripened”? I’ve used a lot of different styles and all of them yielded a ‘spoon ready’ product.

That tiny thing won’t produce many servings.

I don’t think room temperature ice cream tastes good, kids. No chill, no brain freeze.

This is even worse than waiting for the pizza delivery.

How does ice cream ripen? I think he meant for it to freeze?

Everyone gets a small serving so they will understand the benefits of “ripening.”

The pain is real! :) (But also very tasty once the product cures and hardens a little….)

My dad tried making homemade ice cream. We ate it once and never again.

We never bother to ripen our ice cream. It’s delicious right out of the churn.
