Daryl, what the he77, man? What, are you some sort of sadist?
That tiny thing won’t produce many servings.
I don’t think room temperature ice cream tastes good, kids. No chill, no brain freeze.
This is even worse than waiting for the pizza delivery.
Years ago we bought a really little one at target with the cutest foreign graphics for ten bucks or less and it made amazing ice cream! Haven’t used it a while… should dig it out…
Somebody call CPS!
Get in the car and we will go to DQ while it ripens.
How does ice cream ripen? I think he meant for it to freeze?
This is why you need two ice cream makers.
Those are definitely words to live by.
we never put it in the freezer to ‘ripen’. we ate it all slushy!
this is why you lick the mixer blade after the ice cream maker finishes up…
Really dad, that was pure evil.
My cousin made ice cream in the 1960s, I know ice and salt to make the ice colder was involved, but it was cold when done, I do not think it had to be frozen, I know it was time consuming and hard to make!

Also, machines make wild noises chewing up ice cubes.
Mine has a container that is frozen. There is a liquid in the walls. So when it is churned for 30 minutes, it is ready to serve. Time to make peach ice cream too.
Everyone gets a small serving so they will understand the benefits of “ripening.”
We always ate it as soon as it was finished. We never put it in the freezer. That ruins the whole experience.
You realize you have just set yourself up for two hours of Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet?
The pain is real! :) (But also very tasty once the product cures and hardens a little….)
Remember Snow Ice Cream? Pretty tasty if made right, if made wrong, a bit… gritty. And you had to eat it all right after making it, didn’t store in the freezer at all well…
What kind of ice cream maker makes ice cream that must be “ripened”? I’ve used a lot of different styles and all of them yielded a ‘spoon ready’ product.
My dad tried making homemade ice cream. We ate it once and never again.
That’s why I buy my ice cream from the store. It’s ready to eat.
Ripen isn’t a good word choice either
Wow, get a load of the schnoz on this guy!
For me homemade ice cream gives me either brain freeze, or coughing fit, freeze my esophagus
