Well, Darryl this isn’t going very good. And i’m not surprised.

We had fun times at the drive in when I was a kid. Mom and Dad would pile all 5 of us kids into the big a$$ station wagon and we’d go to the drive in. Later on they became a place to pick up guys.

Do they disagree about cake and ice cream?

Don’t worry Hammie the sun will rise in the East. Or will it?

Well, Darryl, drive in van was before DVD player, cable, and live streamed channels. Who wants to sit in a car to watch a movie? And walk across the lot to get the munchies? Nah. That is why they’ve closed. In Phoenix, there is only one drive in lot in the whole metro area.

Wait until the kids find out they only get to watch the movie ONCE!

Considering Zoe’s comment I wonder if the kids have ever been to a regular movie theater. Part of what made drive-ins fun was the uniqueness of being outside in a car instead of everyone in the same building.

Add a little mayhem, it’s fun!

Our drive in is still open and sells out during Covid lockdown they stayed open longer than normal usually late fall they shut down

Drive-in night is about running from car to snackbar to your friends’ cars and talking and laughing. The movie is irrelevant. You’re parents’ car is irrelevant until the movie ends and you have to run up and down the rows finding it again.

Bring out the snacks. That’ll make them happy.

Why are the other cars windows all fogged over?

Well, at least Wren seems interested in the movie.

The horror! The absolute horror!

Yep as I predicted, the kids are all in their PJ’s. Of course any good, self respecting drive in has a small playground in front of the screen where kids get to go and play before the movie starts. Tires them out a bit so they are calmer in the car and even helps them fall asleep early.

Don’t cars have trunks?

Can you take the rear view mirror down so I can see better.

No one wants to be behind mini vans or lifted pickup trucks at the drive in.

Forgive me for a pootentially stupid question. Drive-in cinemas aren’t really a thing in my country. But how are the people in the back seat supposed to be able to see anything at all?

Why didn’t they back the car in and open up the back? Pile up a bunch of pillows and blankets, and the kids would have a great time.

Spent a lot of fun and enlightening experiences at the drive in. It was the only way to see movies because our TV only got 3 channels.

where did wren get all her hair?

Me thinks Wanda is reliving her past.

What – the car seats aren’t comfortable?

Dad. You know that no good deed goes unpunished. Nice try though….

They got it wrong, the kid’s sit in front, watching the movie, while mom and dad in the back makin’ out…

They have a mini-van! Why are the kids all strapped in car seats on the bench seat instead of romping in the back with blankets, stuffed toys, and SNACKS?Wanda and Darryl, you’re doing drive-in all wrong!

If it’s a monster movie, you see it on t he giant screen and the kids will love it

We used to take the pickup and park it backwards. We would sit in the bed with the tailgate down on lawn chairs with the kids on their bellies on sleeping bags.

hope that the kids get to enjoy the full experience, complete with the speakers that render that emanating from a deep, deep bucket sound quality…

No seat belts on the kids? Nor a real car seat for Wren?

IT’S ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE, CHILDREN! Switch things up once in a while.
