Daughter learned how to melt crayons together in a microwave at school so they would have multi-color crayons. What the teacher didn’t tell them was the specific power setting and time. She knew how to use the thing as she cooked her scrambled eggs in it every morning. She figured it was the same as cooking eggs. Glad she had been taught what to do if there was a fire and luckily the fire department was close-by. Only the microwave was ruined and some smoke damage in the kitchen.
My ex called me at work to ask how long to cook a baked potato. I told her an hour, assuming she was putting it in the oven. Nope, microwave. Big mess, glass rotating thingy in microwave shattered, microwave ruined. Of course it was my fault.
Years ago, I had place a hot dog in the microwave, for what I thought was 1 minute. I got distracted and walked away. 9 minutes and 40 seconds later the microwave is still whirling. I had set the timer for 10 minutes. Worst case of radiation sickness hot dog I have ever seen come out of a microwave…..
Learned what happens to blueberries after putting them in the air fryer for 5 minutes this week – it makes a great topping for waffles and english muffins. I recommend a liner though as they start to liquefy
That’s what the internet and especially YouTube is for. Someone’s already done it — rather disappointing results, actually. Maybe the old microwave they used was very low-powered.

Does the family have an old microwave that Hammie can use for his experiments? This assumes that he won’t put metal and gasoline in the microwave.

Every scientist has their bad days, Hammie!

He was actually grounded for attempting the experiment. It would have been more fun to see Wanda’s reaction if he’d actually gone through with it.

Well, that’s not fair! Hammie didn’t even do anything yet!

That wasn’t even 5 seconds.

Was it the “five minutes” part or just the putting the tomato in the microwave without being in a container the issue?

Let him do it and then hand him the washcloth and scrubby and stand and watch him make it sparkle.

I guess that tomatoes, as objects of scientific study, are basically off limits.
