Darryl has given me 2 good reasons to dislike him.
(1.) He snores in a cinema.
(2.) He actually reclines in the @$#% reclining seat!
I’ve suffered these seats on coaches but have never come across them in cinemas. I really blame the coach companies for installing them. When l politely asked the people in front not to crush my legs, l was subjected to abuse.
That was 20 years ago and l now go by train.
At least it sounds like Darryl took his kids to a family movie. I recall a couple with a young family (one was in a pushchair!) taking seats next to me one minute before ‘The Martian’ started. What took place for the next 2 and a half hours is another story…
Darryl – "No, I paid twelve dollars for you to have some ‘me’ time. My nose tells me you spent some time soaking in the tub with your scented bath salts, and sniff, sniff you used some scented candles as well.
This kinda reminds me of going to see “The Great Race” with my Dad (about 4 times, maybe?) – he had just had all of his teeth removed & I was embarrassed that when he was laughing, people would see he had no teeth! ;)
So the $12.00 is offset by the extra entertainment value to the kids, looks like Dad got a pretty good deal. I wonder if they put pop corn in Dad’s mouth while he was sleeping.
Hammie, Zoe, you would love church then. When our parish split because it got too large, the group that was building a new church held services in the movie theater while construction was underway. Yep it had reclining seats and you could hear the snores during the sermon.
Reminds me of a couple of occasions when my dad took my brother and me to see the Mets play at Shea Stadium. He didn’t fall asleep, but he wasn’t a baseball fan. So while we cheered on the Mets, he spent the entire game reading a book.
I took my son to see what had to be the worst action movie of all time, The Shadow with Alec Baldwin. A man an aisle over began loudly snoring and my son, who was about 12 at the time, was getting ready to pelt him with ice from his drink. I told him I would handle it. I walked over to the man, touched him on the shoulder and said “Excuse me, sir, but your snoring is keeping the rest of us awake”. Big laugh from the other moviegoers, probably the only enjoyment any of us got.

so… unlike the movie Wanda chose, there were no traumatizing depictions of savage animal on animal violence, bloodshed, and horrifying gore?

With three kids, getting in a nap must be worth it.

I once slept through a chunk of an opera in a prime seat at The Metropolitan Opera House in NYC. That was a $225 nap.

I saw a great movie last night, Brave the Dark. Highly recommend! But it didn’t cost a mere $12. Maybe they had a discount code. ;)
