Back in the 90’s, my workplace tried to implement TQM, or “Total Quality Management”. A nebulous concept at best without any clear definition, I think it was meant to allow the underlings (us) to feel more involved in decisions and corporate matters. We attended one training session on it, where all they did was tell us how wonderful and important it was, but could never really define it. But shortly after that was a large round of layoffs, and TQM quietly went out the window, never to be mentioned again.
