    Look at your gas gauge. There’s a glyph next to the gas pump icon; that points to the side the filler cap is located!!!

    Not quite on the subject, but…after the pump shuts off automatically, I pull the trigger again and it squirts some gas in, then I pull the trigger again, and again, and…I realize I’ve been standing here for twenty minutes to get another half pint of gas.

    Once the dash panel became an information center, not just a shield from the elements, the little stand-alone gas pump figure was displayed with the hose on the side of the pump toward the side of the car the filler pipe was on. Knowing which side didn’t help much with the hidden door locations in the ’50s GM vehicles, among others. Centered behind the license plate is neither of course.
