New doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better, just different. And different means you’ve got to spend time getting used to it. I’d rather not.

Find a public radio station with an app. They’re free and commercial-free.

Most of what I use are either paid applications or open source. I find that the paid applications become subscription when they run out of compelling reasons for people to upgrade.

I find renting software annoying. I did not upgrade before unless there was a good reason to get the new software but when I got a new Windows 10 computer, a lot of the software would not work on the OS and the only option to replace were subscription services so I kept using my windows 7 computer until it died.

Actually, they need to make the improvements worth it for me to buy the upgrade.

When iTunes or Pandora finally tries to force me into subscriptions, I’ll just move all of music to VLC or another open-source app. and when streamers get to be too much (I’ve already deleted Disney+) then I’ll just check out the latest DVD releases or download loans from my local library. I love my library for staying on top of the tech-curve. Heck, they’ve even announced that movies and TV shows that will never be released on DVD like Disney just announced they’re moving to, will be available for loan online!

She already bought it and now they want rent money! You know that car you bought and paid off years back? Now the car company is going to stop it from working unless you pay them rent for it.

I’d rather pay for the app than rent the app. I like Photoshop but I don’t use it enough to buy a monthly subscription to it. Back in the day I’d buy it and was licensed to put it onto two machines.
