    “After adjustment for multiple potential confounding factors, every one-unit increase in BMI was associated with a 12% reduction in the odds of healthy survival (95% CI 10–14%). Compared with lean women (BMI 18.5–22.9), obese women (BMI ≥ 30) had 79% lower odds of healthy survival to the age of ≥70 (95% CI 71–85%).”The latest data indicate that 39.6 percent of U.S. adults are obese. Another 31.6 percent are overweight.

    Bottom line: overweight is bad for life expectancy.
