When I had regular classes students it was hard trying to get students to do their best. Even when I was a student my classmates would purposely do poor just to keep expectations low. Get an 80 and they’d be showered with praise, a 60 and nobody’d care. People striving for 90’s? Get a 90, nobody cared. Get a 60 and all heck broke loose. That’s why I always praised my students lavishly for getting over 80.
