Big Nate by Lincoln Peirce for February 26, 2017
Transcript:
Mr. Rosa: Today, class, you'll begin a painting from observation! Mr. Rosa: You can set up a still life, paint what you see out the window, do a self-portrait... Nate: Can I paint an animal? Mr. Rosa: An animal?...Well, let's see. There are a few critters in the building... Mr. Rosa: There's a fish tank in the teacher's lounge... Mr. Rosa: Mr. Galvin keeps a turtle in his lab... Mr. Rosa: ...And of course, you've seen the gerbil in Mrs. Godfrey's room! Do any of those interest you? Nate: I was...uh...thinking of something a bit more...y'know...canine. Mr. Rosa: Nate, the school is not going to buy a dog for you to paint. Nate: No offense, Sherman, but you weren't my first choice. Sherman: That's the story of my life.
Over Nate’s shoulder, bottom row, that appears to be part of a horse. Nate could paint a picture of that picture, or better still paint a picture of a picture of a dog.
Or he could paint just the back end of the horse, and title it “Mrs. Godfrey”.
