Nuggets? You couldn’t do something better, like Nate’s Pearls O’ Wisdom or something stupid? I’m curious to find out what his “nuggets” are.

Big Nate: The mystery of locker 232, Part 12

Nate quietly locked his bedroom door, and walked over to his window.

Francis had a sign that said: “You up to sneak into school tonight to open the locker?”

Nate looked around for some paper and a marker, and after a few moments, he held up: “Which one of you has the key right now?”

Francis wrote: “Teddy. I just got off the phone with him. He’s in.”

Nate wrote: “What time are we going?”

“Probably after 6:00”

Nate glanced at the clock on his nightstand.

It was currently 4:37 p.m.

Nate wrote: “Perfect. Just don’t call, because my dad is mad at me.”

Later, at 6:15, Nate knocked on his dad’s door.

“Uhh, Dad?” Nate asked.

“Yeah, Nate?”

“I sort of left my math notebook in my locker at school, and I need it to do my homework.”

“Okay, Nate,” His dad said. “Just be back before 7:00.”

“Okay, dad.”

Nate went up to his room, grabbed both of the papers he found, and the key he found, and put them in his pocket.

Nate ran out of the front door, down the street, hung a left at the stop sign, went straight for about half a mile, and took a right.

There, standing next to the sign welcoming visitors to the school, were Francis and Teddy.

“Finally, you’re here,” Teddy said.

“We almost went in without you,” Francis said.

“Yeah, I’m sorry,” Nate said.

They snuck inside. (The door was unlocked because the janitors were still there)

Walking up the stairs, down a couple of corridors, they found lockers 220-250.

Nate found locker 232.

Teddy pulled out the master key, and the key to the janitors’ closet.

Teddy put the key in the lock in the locker, and twisted it.

The key satisfyingly popped open.

“So far, so good,” Francis said.

They opened the locker.

What was inside now was shocking.

There was a list taped to the back of the locker.

It had a lot of combinations.

Most of them were crossed out, but there were a few at the bottom that weren’t crossed out yet.

“Whaddaya think this is?” Nate asked.

“Clearly it’s a list of potential combinations, and the ones at the bottom are ones that haven’t failed yet.”

Teddy ripped it off and read aloud the five different combinations on the list.

“23,36,07; 29,33,11; 43,25,03; 15,24,32; 36,44,23.”

“Wow,” Francis said. “That’s a lot of twisting a knob. Does either of you have a twisty lock on your locker, ‘cause I don’t.”

“Me neither,” Nate said.

“I do.” Teddy said, heroically, “I’ll twist the safe.”

Teddy tried the first one, while Francis read it aloud.

“Nope,” Teddy said.

“That’s fine,” Nate said, optimistically.

“There are four others.”

Teddy tried the next one, while Francis read it aloud.

“Not this one, either.” Teddy said.

“Guys, Nate said. “Keep your hopes up.”

Teddy tried 43,25,03.

“Nope,” Teddy said, defeated.

“C’mon! There are still two more!” Nate said.

Teddy tried the fourth one. No dice.

“This is the last one,” Francis said, scared. “36,44,23.”

After a couple of moments, in which Francis and Nate stood behind Teddy, anticipating what would happen next, Teddy said, “Nope.”

“But wait!” Nate jumped. “We haven’t tried our numbers yet.”

“It’s worth a shot,” Francis said.

“And wait! Our combination isn’t on this list!”

Nate pulled out the papers. “67, 19, and—”

Nate looked at his hand, where he had written the number that Chad found.

“94,” Nate finished.

Teddy put in the code.

The safe opened.

The contest part 1

Nate is walking one day when he sees a flyer. He reads it, it says that there’s a life or death contest, winner gets 1 trillion dollars (I know that nobody has 1 trilllion dollars so I don’t wanna see THATS SO FAKEEEEEEEE EEEEEFHFJFJFJJFMFK ok? Ok.) Nate wants to enter to get that money but does not want to die he flips a coin to decide what to do heads for yes tails for no. Unfortunately it lands on heads. Nate is so scared but he must so he enters. He comes home and tells his dad who got so mad that he kicked him out. Nate grabs his stuff and asks Francis’s to move in he says no so Nate tries Teddy’s Teddy says yes on one condition if he beats him in super smash bros (I know it sucks but it’s the first thing that came to mind) part 2 tomorrow!
