We had a music critic many years ago, at the newspaper where I worked. His reviews were all “puff pieces” … no criticism at all. One night I was at the office when this chap posted, in the mailbox outside our building, his review at the exact time the orchestra was playing 2 miles away. I went down, opened the box and read the review … nothing but glorious praise. We didn’t publish the review and the managing editor terminated the critic’s contract!
Looks like there wasnn’t anything positive aside from leaving the auditorium. However, that was a rather scathing rebuke for an elementary school concert…….

As soon as I started reading this, I predicted Mary Ellen Popowski would be mentioned. Low and behold, in panel 4, she is.

Come on, Gina. Have the guts to accept the huge new increase in readership this column will bring. Because Nate is burning EVERYBODY here.

I like how Nate’s smiling while typing all this, as if he’s pleased with his insulting criticism

Doesn’t Nate play the trombone? I’m surprised he doesn’t play in the orchestra.

6th panel: I’ve always found it curious how Nate doesn’t have any hair on the back of his head.

Today’s my birthday! I’m 15!
So, for my birthday, I’m doing to a Dim-Sum restaurant, then I’m going to a sci-fi café.
But sometimes you can’t get your wishes to come true, because I got a normal cake instead of Victorian Sponge Cake, which I’m annoyed at.
Wish me a happy birthday if you see this!

Orchestra is not bad Nate. Maybe your school orchestra is. But should brass instruments be in band

I actually laughed at each panel in this “review”…..way to go, Mr. Peirce! WAY. TO. GO!

Considering the stings in Nate’s critique, Jacob Dillard and his parents got off easy.

Nate’s understanding of the term ‘music critic’ is ‘be critical’, so he thought he was doing a bang-up job!

I do remember when I had an orchestra concert and we had a lot of mess up’s, but it wasn’t this bad.
