I once thought a drone was a UFO. Don’t feel bad kid. Dust is the breakfast of champions and romantics alike.

Higher than today’s price, but it has had multiple stock-splits since then.

The truth be told, the AT&T that remained after the break-up into the “Baby Bells” (in 1982) was ultimately bought out by one of those bells (I don’t recall which off the top of my head) and it took on the name AT&T. So the whole thing got a little complicated.

Either way, you’d be money ahead.

Would not surprise me one bit if all those little satellites we now have up there couldn’t be programmed to line up and flash ads. I’ve seen some strange things in the northern sky.

AT&T (T) should be opening at 16.69 today at 9:30. (Yeah, guess what I do for a living?)

I worked for xerox when this came out, stock was at 84/share. then they had a big employee retirement plan to pay us in shares-a way to fend off a buy out by hiding shares, but then in the mid 90’s they started a bunch of very unfriendly actions and lying to employee’s thinking we wouldn’t talk to each other, so people started redeeming the ‘Retirment plan’ and since they promised it couldn’t go lower than 72 for us, we watched it drop to $24 causing a massive cash loss

From 1988, on a total return basis (stock price and reinvested dividends) AT&T roughly tracked the S&P 500 until about 2016. Since that point, it’s been pretty flat while the broad index has increased quite a bit. As noted above, the original company was broken up and one of the subsidiaries eventually became the new AT&T. In general, speculating in individual stocks tends carry a lot of uncompensated risk over just buying the market.
