The sad thing is that the people who ARE having the hardest time are the people that the GOP/right-wing commenters consistently care the least about. People with medical issues with no ability to pay, people in medical debt, kids going to school w/o breakfast, schools with inadequate funding/staffs, people forced to live in homes with lead pipes, and on and on.
When bills (some even with a few GOP votes) are passed that address some of these issues, there’s the familiar refrain of “but, deficits”, “government is inefficient”, etc. All justified by an anecdote.
SOTU speeches are boring, no matter the POTUS. There are some hoops games on tonight, that’s the ticket. Even watching reruns of the Weather Channel would be more interesting than watching the demented fool Biden. But I will flip it on for a moment, just to ensure that Boxtox Pelosi mugshot is no longer in the background.
It looks to me that the first two years of the Biden administration are filled with major accomplishments that benefitted ordinary people. I especially appreciate the strengthening of NATO, and helping a struggling country to fend off an unprovoked attack intended to destroy it and enslave its people, dragging them into the Russian Federation. In addition, health care in our country has been spread further and strengthened. Imagine states still resisting the provision of health care to their citizens. Now watch as politicians who voted against needed bridges and other infrastructure take credit for the good work done. Watch as politicians who gave 2 Trillion in subsidies and tax breaks to the wealthiest in our country and corporations, try to take away Social Security and Medicare, and other parts of the safety net from less fortunate and older Americans.
Biden has accomplished more in 2 years than any other president in 4 or more. Record low unemployment. Infrastructure bill actually fixing roads and bridges, keeping the USA safe from foreign threats, and so many other things.
In the meantime the illegitimate Conservative led Supreme Court has been making catastrophic decisions infringing on Americans rights to Privacy and medical care.

The SOTU should be “interesting” I heard there was a fence going up around the Capitol, yet reps in the House are now free to pack heat if they wish…

Surveys show that 64% of Americans are now living paycheck to paycheck. Even the folks making 6 figures are doing so.
We’re playing Nuclear Brinksmanship with Russia for the first time in decades.
And we’ve got an escalating spy war with China.
No, the state of the union is not well.
