I never could believe that the uproar got so extreme, involving even Federal fines. What if she hadn’t been wearing a strategically-placed pastie? The death penalty? And how about all those pastie-free nudes in the Federal art museums?

This entire nation has gone totally nuts with nudity-phobia. We can’t seem to stop talking about it (in every sitcom episode, as well as many more dramas than necessary, and plenty of news stories to boot) but we’ve pretty much made high-school showers, 1970s-80s hit movies, cultural exchange with the world, and healthy attitudes of our own children impossible to exist in America. I’d much rather have had the wardrobe malfunction be met with one big yawn for about three seconds, while the two dopes stood there looking stupid, and then be totally forgotten.

I miss the days when 10-year-old boys were used enough to fine art, skinny-dipping and naked toddlers that they could simply ignore it all, instead of having to beg each other to shut up about it.
