Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush II all used teleprompters, but they didn’t need them because, well, you made the joke — you tell me why you think they were more articulate than the current president? What, oh what, could the difference be???
Most politicians are subtle cheaters in this regard. But when you think of the damage that might be caused by a misspoken word or phrase, you can understand why they are careful to stick to a script..And script it usually is. Even the famous funeral oration of Pericles was not what he actually said – a later historian paraphrased it for posterity. The word “infamy” in Roosevelt’s speech toward declaration of war toward Japan was carefully chosen after consultation with others. Kennedy had Sorensen, Nixon and Agnew had Safire, and so on….I understand that speeches put into the Congressional Record are often juiced up after being given, if even spoken at all. I imagine historians writing of near-contemporary events have a tough time to sift through “facts”: “Truth is the daughter of time, not of authority.”.I wonder if Churchill had assistance for his speeches? I’d like to think that at least Lincoln wrote his own words.
TJDestry here is your answer……. every word out of there mouths were NOT lies like our present laughing stock leader Thank a Vet every day and for sure today
Good morning, Repubs. After George W., Pallin, and Bachmann…not to mention the Pauls and Canadian Cruz, you have not a fact to stand on when you demean Obama’s speaking abilities. This from a non-fan of Obama.

ROFLMAO! I’m surprised he hasn’t blamed Bush for that! He blames him for everything else. I’m surprised he hasn’t found a way to twist his healthcare ACA fiasco into being Bush’s fault.

But if his teleprompter isn’t working, how will he be able to lie to the American people?

Safe to say readers of this strip aren’t the biggest Obama fans. Probably a good thing with all the double talk going on.
