Yeah. Good luck with that, Goldie.
Goldie applies a most definitive paw of nope. It is an investigative report, after all.
Goldie about to do a tutorial on the proper way to bat pom poms. somehow I think Ora will use my Gracie’s method of shear chaos!
I love Puck trying to make sense of it. Iggy looking on from a distance. is he worried about being in trouble again?
Run away, OZ! Those are the pom-poms of Doom!
Invasion of the Tribbles!
What craft project has wrought this? I can at least gleam that much as while the biggest one seems a bit too big for that the smallest one seems very swallowable and well.. Elvis "Give me them death noodles’ dunn and Lupin “I’ll eat all the lamps I want” Dunn both make a strong case for that being a very bad thing in this house.
Goldie will solve this puzzle!
Ora is ASKING?? “Can I”
Goldie eyebrows! Anyone care to take a whack at naming the emotions they depict in panels 3 and 4?
Pom-pom batting tutorial is starting. New cats need to pay attention.
That approach would never work with my Trouble and Mischief. Those pom-poms would have to be obliterated until there was nothing but fluff left of ’em! :D
Our Esse is of the Goldie school of batting (also for scrounging food) be very delicate on the approach. Investigate with the lightest of touch being aware of any response from the mystery object. Constantly check with mama for reassurance that things are O.K.
Poor Iggy, wanting so badly to be included in all the happenings in The Big Pink House.♥
Careful, cats. Them strange pom pom creatures could be fiendish outer space aliens!
I love how Iggy just leans into the frame.
It looks almost like a little solar system model.
OZ may have met her disciplinary match in Goldie. Especially when it comes to investigative reporting.
In panel 4, what is behind Iggy, over his shoulder? It’s gray and pink.
How an Inquisitive Rogue approaches a problem vs how a barbarian approaches a problem
Re-posting from late yesterday:
Squeeeeeeeeee! The Barnes & Noble website reveals the following exciting delight:
“Everything’s Coming Up Beatrix!: A Breaking Cat News Adventure” Paperback – September 5, 2023
Starting a pool on how long before all of the pom-poms get batted under the fridge or furniture :)
To any Star Trek fans on here, I highly recommend looking up the fan work “We Has Tribbles and Also Troubles”. It’s the famous episode retold as a series of memes. :D
Creedence Clearwater Revival: Bad Moon Rising
I see a lot of pom poms coming
I see tribbles on the ground
I see I must teach Ora Zella
How to bat them gently now!
You must bat them just right
Don’t bat them out of sight
Tribbles all kinds of trouble cause!
I see a hurricane a-blowin!
Oh wait, that’s really Ora Z
Be careful, there’s no way of knowin’
Just what trouble these tribbles might be!
I see a lot of pom poms
I see tribbles everywhere
I see Iggy and Ora Zella,
I see the bathroom you-know-where!
I know the Woman loves holidays, but I cannot imagine these pom poms relating to Presidents’ Day, Mardi Gras, or Ash Wednesday. I look forward to finding out their purpose once Goldie finishes her investigation.
It’s not unusual to check out any poms
It’s not unusual that Ora wants in on any fun
So when she sees you rolling about those puffy ones
It’s not unusual to hear her cry:
“I wanna try”
It’s not unusual to hear her shout at any time
‘Cause when she sees you bat them about it’s such a crime
If you should ever wanna to share with that li’l one
It’s not unusual
It happens every day
No matter what you say
You’ll find it happens all the time
She will never do what you want her to
Why can’t you think her craziness is fine?
It’s not unusual to be mad with anycat
It’s not unusual to be sad with anycat
But if we ever find that you’ve let her have a turn at bat
It’s not unusual to find out that she’ll love you for that
Whoa-whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa-whoa, oh-oh-oh-oh, whoa

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
At the Xanadu Hive
Queen Titania: It’s the season to make some special honey. Let’s start with a visit to the Cosmo Nursery.
Kira (Terpsichore): Ooh, I haven’t seen Trevor-Hotep in ages!
Mel (Melpomene): I heard he has some new types of flowers growing in his garden.
Clio: What are we waiting for? Let’s go!
At the Cosmo Nursery
Trevor-Hotep: Welcome, Ladies! I have plenty of new flowers for your honey making. Like these colorful pom pom flowers.
Callie (Calliope): They are lovely. I’ll bet they’ll make the most delicious honey.
Polly (Polyhymnia): Why don’t we ask them?
Tallie (Thalia): Hello, lovely pom poms. Do you mind if we gather some of your pollen.
Pom Pom: We’d be delighted. Just be gentle. My name is Tasselia Pomander. Call me Tess.
Tallie: Pleased to meet you, Tess. I’m Thalia, call me Tallie.
Tess: We have plenty of pollen for you. But we must warn you, there is a tortie hurricane visiting.
Tallie: Ora Z is here? I’ll have to say hi.
How old is the Boy? Time yet for a planets mobile?
And the pom poms were scattered and patted with care, as detective Goldie, was very much there! With O.Z in her cuteness and Iggy, waiting to tap, Goldie knew this was no time to nap!
Take a look at the Valentine’s Day strip and you can see a string of pom poms just above the speech bubbles. The woman probably took them down and placed them in a storage box. What kitten can resist looking into a box?
Whatever you do, don’t feed them! You’ll be up to your eyeballs in multicolored fluff-balls in nothing flat.
OZ gets yet another “nope!” 3 days in a row, 3 “nopes.”
I guess some of the Boy’s and Girl’s craft stuff ran for their lives; now, they will be investigated by our resident detective along with one chaotic kitten (and maybe one anxious one)
This sort of thing requires a licensed pom-pom batter. No amateurs allowed.
Doesn’t matter the shape, size or material. All cats love balls.
The case of the missing Inglenook Fireplace conversation:
I accidentally deleted the whole thing while trying to post a follow up comment. So I added a follow up at the end, but I figure most folks won’t go back to that page to read it, so I’ll repost it here.
I just want you guys to know that you are all loved. And know that even if only one percent of the people in the world love you, that’s 79 million people. Stay safe!
When we were at our largest amount of cats in our clowder, we moved. Upon moving the couch, we came upon the glorious puffball stash. Along with the spring stash, mouse stash and all the random toys stash. Luckily the cats were already closed in a room in the new house, so they didn’t end up batted all over the house while we were shoving furniture around.
Pom-poms. POM-POMS??? Nobody uses pom-poms anymore. Sparkle balls are all the rage these days.
Leave it to the detective, Ora. She’s a real pro.
Cat-soccer or cat-golf?
“Can I —” slingshot these under the frig?
“Can I —” bunny kick them?
“Can I —” charge them, grab them, and then slide down the hall and crash into a wall?
OT: Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes yesterday. I had a splendid day and spent part of it visiting one of the gorillas in our local zoo who was celebrating his 30th birthday.
What’s with all the pom-pom and circumstance?
Ora “My Middle Name is Trouble” Zella
It’s the kids messing with the Man.
Ooh! A mystery! I love a BCN investigative report!
Although it’s missing a few planets, it kinda looks like a model of the solar system.
We finally got my new computer out of the box and set up yesterday. It was the first time since I got it back in I think September that I’ve had time, energy, and sense at the same time. And yay! This one seems to be working properly. Now I need to make the Blooming Onion soup. All I have to do is get the energy.
Kittens need training before they can move up to the advanced objects.
Have you ever listened to a piece of music that gave you an emotional reaction?
There are many pieces of music I have listened to over the years that I have really enjoyed. However, these two have been special.
TOYS!!!!! Good toys for kittens to play with. And I see a certain black and white in the background.
Akiro has reached new heights of weird; this evening he was begging insistently for a bit of my cookie (oatmeal-cranberry, baked fresh today). Knowing that he doesn’t generally care for such things, I saved him two tiny bits (with no fruit); what do you know, he actually ate both morsels! Goofy cat; hasn’t he heard that he is an obligate carnivore?
