Lupin in that last panel— hilarious!
They defeat me every single time
NO! Not the sad eyes! There’s no defense against that! You know that’s not fair!
This was me tonight. I was having a homemade fish sandwich.
Turn the other way!
Sing It Pucky! Cutest little Cat Crooner EVER! But Lupin has the best sad eyes.
The Woman’s defenses are melting right before our eyes! No iron curtain there.
I wonder if the next time this happens, they’ll have Iggy sing. And can you imagine the effect six pairs of Sad Eyes™ will have on the people?
When her eyes synchronize with theirs, she’s (you know it’s coming) DOOMED!
I’d forgotten this is a rerun. The age of The Boy kind of shocked me.
Nooo. Cannot resists. Got to feeds the cats!
Please get me a wipe for my tears like lupin
I think they’ve got this routine down pat. They’v obviously done this before.
Happy National Cartoonist Day to Georgia Dunn!
Elvis is holding his tail. Who could resist that.?
Resistance is futile.
They know the weak link…
Who is the baby? I thought the boy and the girl were older.
Gaaaaahhhh … whenever a furry person gives me those eyes, I feel like a slot machine whose lever has been pulled, and then it’s JACKPOT for the little beggar …
Nooo, not the puppycat eyes!
OT – Tiny Kittens
Sad eyes are like kryptonite. That, or dual lasers boring into any resistance.
Oh, in case anyone is interested and hasn’t already heard:
Georgia is drawing again! It’s on other social media, but this is where I saw it first.
(I’m not sure how well it’s going for her though, every time I look at the drawing it seems to get a bit blurry.)
I live this everyday. The meows of despair and those wide, pleading eyes!
I LOVE Foreigner!! And that song is perfect! Sing it, Pucky!
OT, Orbster’s friend’s pet needs help with emergency surgery
The date line says 2023, but the story line and artwork say 2016. (boy in high chair?)
_*"I want to know what love is…"* Foreigner….
Mick Jones guitar
Ian McDonald multi-instrumental – fusion rock – ex King Crimson was dropped from the band before album 5 (where this song comes from)
Lou Gramm Vocals
Dennis Elliot drummer
Al Greenwood Keyboards
Ed Gagliardi bass guitar replaced by Rick Wills on this album / song
Puck’s rendition is lilting, uplifting, and oh so sad and hungry!
The family was so small back then, in more ways than one.
Puck hitting her with the song, that is some heavy persuasion there. I might be tempted to do the same. I wonder if he will hit her with some of their other hits like Waiting for a Meal Like You, Feels like the Food Time, or Snackbox Hero.
is the Boy going to town on mashed potatoes ?
mmmmmm . . . . mashed potatoes!
The sad eyes totally work on me. Oh my poor starving kitties, here, have my whole meal.
Mine give me the sad eyes and meow plaintively at the same time. They reinforce this with head boops. I always give in.
They say we’re cats and we don’t know
That we just ate five minutes ago
Well, just what does that have to do
When you got food, and we all want some, too
We need food babe, yeah,
Oh, boo hoo, babe
- Sonny Bono – I Got You Babe – Sonny & Cher
I read this storyline recently and I STILL forgot the “I WANNA KNOW WHAT FOOD IS…”. Puck knows his audience.
Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Thank you, Thomios, for that lovely banquet. Your apprentices are definitely the best of the best.
Thomios: Thank you, Your Majesty. Now we can adjourn to the library for tea and scones.
Puckmosis: Not so fast, Thomios. The least we can do is help with cleanup.
Thomios: Most appreciated, but totally unnecessary.
Beatrixia: We can have the kitchen and pantry cleaned in a jiffy.
Thomios: Well, if you insist.
Thomios: Thank you, all for your help. To show our appreciation, I have packets of leftovers for all of you._ (To Apprentices: Works every time.)_
Tabith-Isis: While we are in the library lounge, the Red Dot Choir will entertain you with music.
We want to know where food is. We want you to show us. We want to eat all of the food. We know you can show us…
Ora Z: I know where the food is: Right over there. Race you to it!
Before I forget: Happy Cinco de Mayo! And Tabitha sets the record straight:
I love it when Puck sings!
Ladybug Update: It’s now been 2 weeks since her injury and diagnosis as degenerative discs in her lumbar and one herniated disc. She’s regained all of her body function, including her tail. We can tell she still hurts and she’s nowhere near as active as she was before the herniation but she does play some. She may well never be a little lightning bolt again, or leap and climb with wild abandon, but at least she is active and fully functional. Hopefully improvement continues.
Ok, sad eyes had me saying awww and lol at the same time.
Huh. I always figured I’d be the one to owe Foreigner a thousand groveling pardons. Was this the first instance of filking in BCN? It feels like the first time.
Give in Woman. Resistance is futile.
Oh look, there were sides with the meal. How in the world did that ever happen?
OKAY! – ALL RIGHT – BOYS !!!
Nice shot, there, guys! … BUT – NO Cat is a ‘Foreigner’ – To What ‘FOOD’ Is !!! … (Sheez!)
However … Nice Floor Show, there!! … Points for That !! … :)
Love the remake of Foreigner’s song!!! Happy Cartoonists day Georgia!! You are the best!!!
‘The Boys’ will then follow up with " HUNGRY EYES " !! … Made famous in the 80’s by singer Eric Carmen. … (hee-hee) … :)
OT-Update on Salem (Sheila’s dog)
Ha Ha, the sad eyes routine always works!
Oh no! Not the sad eyes! Must look away. Don’t… give in. Resist the cuteness…
I’ll just, uh… step out for a moment.
The eyes have it …!
The sad eyes, followed by Puck’s song, will keep me smiling or laughing out loud for the rest of the day.
The Boys need to add “The Imploring Paw” to their litany of Woe.
And if that doesn’t work, it’s time to pull out the Big Gun.
The Silent Meow.
♪"Sad meows, they say

(“Sad Songs” written by Elton John, Bernie Taupin)
Last Friday when we were having grilled salmon. One of the little buggers even got into the potatoes.
I’d give in if I were you
They know what they can do
They’re hungry, Woman, they could really rip your food apart
She’s out of willpower
Ohh, the chicken is theirs, can you really break their hearts?
Oh, oh, here they come
Keep up, boys, she’s givin’ up
(With five hundred groveling pardons each to Daryl Hall and John Oates.)
Our 2 year old cat has a kitten meow. We call it squeeing. She squees for chicken and shrimp.
The cats may want to know what love is but the Woman is cold as ice. Lol!
Ha! I just watched the video for that song last night.
At the last CN staff meeting, they never did sort out who would be doing food critic duties.
Happy Cartoonists Day, Georgia! Thank you for making my every day start on a bight note.
Noooooo! Not the sad eyes! Nothing can resist the sad eyes!
Chicken bits for the feline soul. XD
Mad eyes to sad eyes in the blink of an eye.
I wanna feel what food is
I know you can show me
They put Steve Breen in place of this. I had to look around.
Kahlua is home again. My SIL picked up his box of ashes this morning. It appears they did a nice job memorializing him and even made a paw print. The girl chihuahuas are still sniffing about looking for him but as time passes the loss and pain may lessen but never really go away.
I’ve gotta take a little taste
A little taste of chicken that’s crisper
I better look between the sides
In case I need potatoes when I’m older
This table, I must climb
Feels like a meal taken from my shoulders
Through the buckets, I smell they’ve gone to the hut now
Keep my belly warm as life grows colder
In my life, there’s been stomach ache and pain
I don’t know if I can face hunger again
Can’t stop now, chickens traveled so far
To feed this hungry pride
I wanna know what food is
I want you to show me
I know you can show me (hey)
Gotta take a little taste
Little taste of gravy around me
Stomach’s got no food left to inside
Smells like Chicken Hut has finally found me
To feed this hunary pride
I wanna know what food is (I wanna know)
I want you to show me (I wanna feel)
I wanna feel what food is (I know, I know, and I know)
Let’s talk about food
(Food that you feel inside)
(I’m smelling so much food)
(And you know, food just can’t hide)
Oh, I wanna know what food is
(Let’s talk about chicken)
(I wanna feel)
(And you know potatoes and gravy just can’t hide)
I wanna feel what food is (oh, I wanna know)
I want you to show me
OT: Health news
OT: Yard cats (nothing horrible)
I call that The Big Kitty Eyes. Foxy is very good at it as was Meimei. Since she really had been a Poor Starving Kitty behind the gas station, she could do method acting. And I would reply, “Poor starving kitty my a—.”
Aw, look at little bitty The Boy!
For Georgia – Happy National Cartoonist Day!
And today’s strip hit home. Penny loves chicken, and will pat me relentlessly for some when we have it. “Mama? Mama? I’d like some chicken, please. Just a mouthful, thank you.” I’m a sucker for her good manners; she usually gets two bites instead of one. ;)
