When I was very young, apparently I would actually say “what the?” when I was surprised by something. My parents thought it was hilarious and it wasn’t until I was older that I realized that it’s just a cartoon expression and no one really says it out loud.
I’m reminded of a game called Voices of the Void, where you play as a researcher who is sent to run a radio telescope array in Switzerland by himself. It has what I’ve heard called a “creepy and comfy” vibe. There’s nothing like staring out a huge picture window in the dead of night as weird extraterrestrial signals play.
When I first read this I thought Lupin was going to tell Ora she couldn’t eat all the ice cream. In my defense it was the middle of the night and I probably wasn’t thinking straight. I should have know Lupin just wanted to join in.
So either the aliens think the Earthlings already know how to read their language or at least would have ready means of translating it on demand…or that message isn’t meant for the Earthlings specifically.
Hey guys! I think I have the solution…the screen is showing the universal alphabet from the Futurama show. Now if I could just take the time to decode it…..anybody up for the job?
Ummm, If I am not mistaken, but the “writing” symbols resembles that of an episode of Unsolved Mysteries. In this episode, they covered the “Roswell, NM. Alien crash”. On one of the “relics” viewed, the symbols were etched on a “Beam” that was witnessed by many people. Just saw that episode and vaguely remember these similar symbols…
Although the symbols are completely different, I’m reminded of those used in Black Panther, where the Wakandan writing is based on an old Nigerian language.

Where are the raccoons that there are screens?

Well, Tortimer seems to be guarding them, so he’s probably not an enemy agent.

I like Georgia’s alien language. I remember a college course where we had to design a new alphabet, which was much harder to do than one would expect.

Turn Tortimer off! He’s being signalled!
howtheduck about 2 months ago
My Google Translate is not detecting the language but has picked out individual words as Latin, Cormorant or Norwegian.

Of course the screens turned on. TV hypnotizes so many people, it’s a natural for pacifying the masses. That’s how you keep the people vulnerable.

Klaatu/The Carpenters: Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft
Lt. Uhura: We are being hailed by an unknown craft, Captain.
Captain Kirk: Put it on screen.
Spock: It appears to be a musical piece. The words are being sung by a beautiful woman from the 20th Century.
Karen:
In this time there many tools, you know
To assist you when it’s time to clean within your home
Please listen now and concentrate on what you need to do
To have a tidy house, we suggest to you
…….
Calling occupants of every tidy house
Calling occupants of every tidy house
Calling occupants of every very tidy, spotless and so white house!
…….
We’ve been observing your homes
And one night we’d like to make a contact with you
We can be friends!
…….
Calling occupants of every tidy house
Calling occupants of every tidy house
Calling occupants of every very tidy, spotless and so white house!
…….
And always be neat we beseech you
Chaos and mess are not cool
Please all you stellar housekeepers
Won’t you give us a sign, give us a sign
That you know the rules!
…….
Calling occupants of every tidy house
Calling occupants of every tidy house
Calling occupants of every very tidy, spotless and so white house!
Alien ship flies off to spread its message of hope and neatness.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile (Encore Edition)
Elvis-Anum: So you’ve been writing your story down from the beginning?
Mag-Lor: Yes. I don’t know if anyone will ever read it, but I would like to share it.
Beatrixia: I would love to see it.
Mag-Lor: It’s in Tengwar script, not everyone can read it.
Elvis-Anum: I can. I learned Elvish during my travels in my youth.
Mag-Lor: You did the Dancing Corsair training?
Elvis-Anum: Yes. I learned many languages then.
Mag-Lor: Then would you like to transcribe the scrolls?
Elvis-Anum: Absolutely! You have a story that needs to be told!
Beatrixia: And that means you would need to return here when the scrolls have been completed.
Mag-Lor: Not a problem. I think I would enjoy some more Xanadu Honey and exquisite cheeses.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Since the hour grows late, I propose you spend enjoy our evening entertainment and stay overnight.
Fe-Anaro: Thank you most kindly, Your Majesty. We will take our leave of you on the morrow.

If you could read their lines, love
What a tale those bots could tell
Just like a scary movie
’Bout ghosts that have cast a spell
In their castle dark, blanket fortress strong
With Lupin’s guarantee
“You kids are safe with me
Until the others are set free
As long as there is ice cream left, OZ"
