I learned the other day that the Ojibway pronounce it “becan”.

Growing up in Alabama, pecans were plentiful, and are still my favorite nut, but we had pecan pie so much that I started to avoid it (as a kid). I have sufficiently recovered from that wrong thinking and will have a piece every chance I get.
