Nowadays, you’d be hard pressed to find a crowded elevator. Most of them have signs limiting them to two people at a time. Fortunately, I prefer the stairs – always.
the silence of a crowded elevator is the perfect amphitheater to enhance the symphony of internal gastric compositions – a captive audience, great acoustics, and the appreciation of wide-open spaces that descent on all after the performance
Reminds me of the time I worked in Hallmark Contemporary Design Studio back in 60s. One day many writing/illustrating staff got in one of the 3 elevators facing backwards. Way in the back an editor had a laughing doll. He pulled the string just as the doors opened. Canned crazy laughter, & everyone facing the back wall was too much for any prospective passengers.
Once, when I was at the back of a crowded elevator, a young man in a business suit was the last person on. After the doors closed and we started to move; he turn facing the rest of us and with a smile on his face said, “So, I guess your wonder why I brought you here today.” Everyone laughed and then started talking.

After almost a year in isolation, I would LOVE to be in a crowded elevator.

Come to think of it, you really don’t hear elevators with music much anymore.

Crowd or no crowd, most elevators are usually silent except for the creeks, groans, and rumbles of the mechanicals….

It won’t be crowded after the people vacate it after you get on
