If you drink cow milk, don’t be surprised if you start behaving like a calf.

Somehow equating the French and bravery strikes me as an oxymoron.

My favorite story of WWII resistance is that of the German occupation of Denmark. The German “Governor” released an order that all Danish Jews were to begin wearing the Star of David. The morning the order took effect, every man, woman, and child, including the king himself, was wearing the Star of David. More than 99% of Danish Jews were successfully hidden and smuggled out of the country.

The cows sure wish it hadn’t been thought of to steal their milk and babies. Even worse, it is unhealthy for humans but endorsed and supported by our government to feed our children. Too sad to be funny!

Or there are foods that are actually toxic until they have been treated properly, I think casava is an example.

I’ve got the complete Calvin and Hobbes collection, but it’s nice getting them one at a time, the way I used to.

The 700 American firefighters currently battling a wildfire in my town are all of the above. – “If we’re talking oxymorons – brave Americans (unless they’re drugged up), slim, healthy Americans, unselfish Americans, considerate Americans… the list is inexhaustible.” -

Very good point! Why in the world would we drink the milk made for a calf? We’re the only animals that drink the milk of another species. Drink something healthy like almond milk!

I try not to drink milk (from any animal), not because I think it’s unethical but because it has adverse effect. (My choice is that made from rice.) .I dislike French cuisine because it is too highly disguised with sauces….I like the taste of food on it’s own. Bean curd is alright if cooked gently and spiced correctly..If it doesn’t kill us we’ll eat it a second time.

The one that I’ve always wondered about is how someone decided to take these particular beans, roast them, grind them up, put them in boiling water and then drink that water.

It was probably a woman Calvin, but I do agree. The more I think about things the weirder they get, especially everyday things I take for granted. Calvin doesn’t mind how weird things are. Hobbes would rather have breakfast first, before exploring this wonderful world that is quite weird. My weird example is yogurt, which I have with cereal instead of cows milk. Mind you, I would much rather try milking a cow than fight in WW2. I once owned a WW2 surplus Norweigan rifle. It was designed for only one purpose, killing people. It was $60. Now that is weird.

Interesting coincidence. My wife told me just yesterday that the Vikings believed the cow was the first animal to emerge from the snows, and it gave humanity milk and ice cream. So, I guess the answer to his question is—the Vikings.
