I sometimes get the idea that Calvin’s parents and Ned Flanders’s parents follow the same philosophy far as discipline is concerned.

That’s his mom’s idea of “discipline”? “Come inside”? Sheesh, no wonder Calvin’s a brat.

I wonder what kind of punishment Hobbes will get for his role in this.

“…better come inside”. Where mom will teach you how to treat girls.

I’d say something about Black Lives Matter, but rest assured, cops know the conviction is a rare thing, you have to do something really stupid like kneel on someones neck past the point where they are dead, while being videod doing it, to get convicted. Shoot someone instead, then you can argue they were reaching for a gun or some BS

How tall is his mother? She can’t be anywhere near six feet, even, so his treehouse can’t be much more than five feet off the ground. I always imagine the treehouse is a lot higher than that.

Some girls are slimy. You’ll learn later that’s what’s so good about them, Calvin.

Impressive he has the upper body strength to climb a rope. As for discipline I was born in 1951 and back in 50/60s we were spoiled, never spanked Dr Spock babies.

At least Calvin’s father is only irritated by the boy. My father hated me, really hated and showed it.

As adults, Calvin and Hobbes will probably be sitting side by side in a jail cell, and Calvin will say, “Day-amm, that was fun!”

“You are watching too much TV. Go outside and play.”“You are causing trouble. Come inside.”

Such is the logic of rank behavior modification strategies.

Isn’t stuffed-toy Hobbes (Panels 1, 2) adorable? On a similar note, I dreamt that I found a Hobbes plush at the store last night. Too bad it wasn’t real, or I totally would’ve bought it :)

What a change in Calvin’s attitude will occur in fewer than a dozen years, by which time he will have become one of those “hormones with feet” that we commonly call teenagers.

In my childhood, I followed the 80/20 Rule. 80% of the time I was in trouble for 20% of what I got caught doing.
