Today a kid would have to wear a helmet, be padded with pillows, and wear a life jacket. And the sled would have to have an air bag

The hill in the park I sledded in had a big rock and flag pole at the bottom. Mostly we missed it, But sometimes it got bloody and every few years we would lose someone.

It’s like when you feel the invisible hand of God pushing back from the edge of the cliff.

He’s gonna do it anyway.

You should listen to your stomach then. Or your heart.

Where’s Hobbes? Calvin could send him down for a test run.

He’s hearing voices now!!! The beginning of the end for the little tyke!!

It hasn’t occurred to Brain that if Calvin dies, the Brain will also die. I see Hobbes has taken a pass on this ride.

Go ahead down? Calvin can’t move. He doesn’t have a beer.

Too bad more kids can’t think this way.

Today’s strip reminds me of the “Agnes” ones, where our anti-heroine balks at doing a high-dive into a public swimming pool.

Too bad Watterson didn’t use the classic “angel” and “imp” images to show Calvin’s opposing thoughts. It would be interesting to see what an “angelic” Calvin looked like, even as a complete figment of the imagination! :D

Brain would be more convincing if he didn’t mention all the dangers.

At least he’s on a steerable sled instead of the usual toboggan this time…

Human condition; it just gets different as people get older.

If my brain would’ve reasoned with me more at that age, I’d have less scars and phobias today.

It’s going to be a bumpy ride with a physics lesson to make it memorable.

Alternate realities can be daunting.

That is not your Brain, Calvin. Only the Heart wants what it wants and ignores all evidence and logic to the contrary.

Carry on Calvin! Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, and don’t mess with Mr. In-Between. Danger isn’t your enemy, it’s your friend, (and besides, “careful” doesn’t make for good comics).

Some young fellows went ice fishing on a frozen reservoir. They had a pickup truck and had a great time skidding around on the ice before deciding it was time to start fishing. It was then that they realized that the water in the reservoir had been lowered. Took the tool they used to make the hole quite awhile to make a splash. No wonder there was no one else fishing. It was a large reservoir and the truck owner said they could all drive back to shore, but amazingly his friends said no they would rather walk.

His brain is not the only one trying to kill him. Join the club.

Most of us don’t realize that until we’re in our 30s.
