This is just exquisitely drawn, isn’t it?

In winter sun rises at 7.30 am and now in summer just at 4.30 am, where I live!!

Pretty sure it is the Earth that moves & not the Sun.

Love how lifelike Hobbes looks in the third panel!!

I bet Calvin would also like to relax in the warm sun, but Dad will make him do some disagreeable chore, saying it “builds character”.

I wouldn’t annoy a sleepy tiger if I were you, Calvin!

Know the feeling

Nobody likes an elusive sunbeam.

When he hits the staircase its time to eat!!

Careful Cal, the claws just might make an appearance if Hobbes happens to wake up cranky.

Our Rottweilers loved sleeping in the sunbeams. I miss them.

Reminds me so much of the cat my family had for much of my teenage years and early 20s, especially the second panel with the way he stretches and yawns.

Ah, retirement!

He would have awakened curled into a ball as his temperature dropped. I once hooked up a rheostat to my cat’s heated bed. I could change her sleep posture from curled up ball to stretched out maximum just by dialing up the heat. Cats are thermally homeostatic, even in their sleep.

Panel 3 looks to me like an extremely realistic drawing of a tiger. It’s also making me think that tigers are surprisingly slim for all their strength.

Being Calvin’s best friend is exhausting.

That third panel is a work of art

I was still pretty young when it astonished me that you can actually see a patch of sunlight move.

I say that every time the clouds decide to roll in.

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking

Racing around to come up behind you again

The sun is the same in a relative way but you’re older

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Sun? Nah. Cats will move anywhere to nap as long as it gets in your way.

“What’s warm and fun to lie in, and must be chased but can’t be caught?”

Hobbes likes to sleep in the sunbeam. Reminds me of Trixie Flagston.

That feline knows how to take the warmth and enjoy every moment. Calvin has a true friend in him.
