The idea of them being scavengers was proposed by Jack Horner (a famous paleontologist who just so happens to share his name with a certain pie-making crime lord), but it’s been debunked by many researchers because no terrestrial predator can live entirely off of scavenging. (Only flying ones like vultures can, since they can travel long distances without eating.)

Besides, hunting versus scavenging is a false dichotomy, since most predators aren’t picky and don’t care whether their meat is alive or dead.

According to my completely and in great depth un-researched theory, T-Rex caught its food the same way as the Venus fly trap. They would lie on their backs with their giant mouths wide open and wait for unsuspecting creatures to wander into their mouths, attracted by the beautiful decorations.

Why are scavengers disgusting? Think of the planet littered with carcasses were it not for them. I guess Calvin has heard too many stories about so-called “human” scavengers.

    T. Rex gets such a bad press. The reality is the relatively ’armless…….

Actually, that could make for a very interesting paper, especially coming from a 6-year old…

Why not both? A lot of predators today would not pass up a free meal if they come across one.

Cal picked a topic that could be very popular with the class but maybe not on something that will fit teacher’s topic list.

Life does what it must to survive. Only humanity assigns some notion of nobility to directly killing rather than not letting something to go waste.

Why couldn’t T-Rex be both? It could be a predator that takes advantage of any food source it comes across, even a carcass of an animal killed by another predator.

To all my GC friends, I would like to thank you for allowing me to “talk” about my sister and what was happening with her health for the last 3 weeks, sadly she passed away this afternoon at 2 pm, it is very sad but she did not suffer in the end, the hospital had their comfort care come in and she was on moriphine so she would not suffer, and she is sleeping peacefully now and I know I will see her again in God’s resurrection.

Much like the mighty Bald Eagle . . . so much more majestic when viewed from afar!

I saw a pair of osprey beat the living he!! out of a bald eagle after he stole one of their fish.
