IMHO, Mom or Dad GREATLY overreacted! But the sparrow is beautifully drawn.

What an artist! Takes a realistic looking sparrow then suddenly transforms it as if Calvin’s soul jumped in Beetlejuice style.

This has always have been one of my favorite strips, I laugh every time I see this strip!

I had this one on my frig for many years. We cut it out of the “funny pages” when it was originally published. Sheesh! That was a long time ago. :D

That reminds me of a marching ditty from the Army: “They say that in the Army, the coffee’s mighty fine / Looks like muddy water, and tastes like turpentine…” Or: “They say that in the Army, the biscuits mighty fine / One rolled off the table, and killed a friend of mine…”

Today is 7/7/24. I remember 7/7/77 and writing it in my schoolbook about a week before school broke up here in the UK.

The Song Sparrow is appropriately named, but the White Crowned Sparrow and plain brown House Wren are my 2 favorites.

Many years ago this strip was the first Calvin and Hobbs strip I saw. I laughed until there were tears in my eyes. It was the start of a wonderful relationship.
