Was this run part of the original sabbatical? It looks like they’re jumping around in time. A few weeks ago, Calvin was failing his math test in “Attack of the…Snow Goons,” and now we’ve gone backwards to “Scientific Progress Goes ‘Boink’.”

The last time that this wonderful arc was reprinted – in 2020 – a reader suggested that Calvin was “really standing on a stepladder”. I don’t think that Watterson intended any explanation other than the one shown in the strip.

Am I the guy here who can recognize that yes, she has other shoes, but the now missing one’s color went with the outfit?

I suspect keeping her barefoot had much to do with how Calvin happened.
