In the current Peanuts story arc, Snoopy is acting as Peppermint Patty’s lawyer. A reader commented, “Does he take pro bono cases?” Another reader replied, “Other dogs might work for bones but Snoopy would work for root beer.”
1) the constitution says he won’t be deprived of property but he hasn’t been given the gifts so he isn’t deprived of them. 2) santa isn’t a federal agency/american organization so is not under the constitution unless 3) you remember a very old bloom county story from around ‘82-we’ve got one ugly elf riot here dan.
Santa operates outside of US borders. Additionally, he lives for centuries, millenia even,;laws change so frequently in that stretch of time. our puny laws have no jurisprudence.
Deprived of property that you already own or are otherwise entitled to, ie, a paycheck that you’re due for work you’ve already done. Learning that you won’t be able to acquire something in the future that you’d expected to have is not being deprived of property.
Let’s get this straight. The winter solstice has been celebrated for roughly 12,000 years. Of course there is no record of who or exactly when, but primitive astronomers discovered they could predict the seasons by studying the stars.
Can you imagine how monumentally important that was? An ice age had ended. Farming and domesticating animals was in its infancy. In winter, as the days shortened and weather worsened, they could joyfully proclaim that the days would get longer and weather would improve. Demons were not eating the sun! We’re not going to run out of food! They feasted. They splurged and threw another log on the fire. They gave each other gifts.

I don’t know if I’d want to mess with Santa’s lawyer. I’ve heard rumor he and Elf on the Shelf are close working colleagues!

With that kind of legal language vocabulary, you are already in as a lawyer, Hobbes. With the legal pad in hand you are set.
