Phone: Well, sir, you had nine debit card purchases pending, which would have been fine. You had enough funds to cover those. But then a merchant called "Roscoe's Rib Shack" Deposited a check for $12, putting you overdrawn by $1. So, rather than bounce that one check. We generously paid them all for you. Of course, we had to charge a $22 overdraft fee for each purchase. Lemont: I see. I just have one more question. Phone: Yes, sir? Lemont: Why didn't you just bounce the @$% $12 check?! Phone: I'd think you would be grateful, sir. The merchant might have charged you a $15 returned-check fee.
