I heard the CDC wants a pop tax. Y’all gotta stop drinkin that pop. It’s makin y’all fat.

BTW We already have general taxes on booze.

Yup Apparently, the head came out in favor of it but then said it was up to the politicians.

gladius, I’m all for a significant excise tax on alcohol to help pay for all the increased law enforcement costs, domestic assault costs, traffic costs in addition to health costs

bc The pop tax I was talking about is Soda. It’s called pop in the Midwest which includes western NY. I didn’t grow up with the term but I’ve had to adjust. As I said, we already have alcohol taxes. They’re tacked on before you see the final price, like cigs. In theory, they’re supposed to be geared towards many of the things you mentioned.

California legislators considered an increase in alcohol tax to help with its $26 billion deficit, but the special interests managed to kill it … they raised other taxes, but not such an obvious one … sad

gladius, yeah i knew what you meant. just wanted to share that even with a $26 BILLION deficit, lawmakers catered to the special interests with the big bucks

howie, biden is naturally high on life (as a news consumer, I appreciate most of his candid gaffes)

There are language differences all over the U.S. I’ve lived in several parts of the country and often drive linguistically interested friends up a wall.
