Why would he trust elections? The last one was certainly jiggered, and look where we are now — a self-aggrandizing moron in the White House who uses the power of the office to make death threats against people who report on his behavior and harass people whose job is to provide checks and balances.
Excuse me, but this latest mess IS about cheating at the elections by breaking the law and his presidential oath in order to solicit aid from a foreign power for his personal gain. As was the last election as well, apparently. What is wrong with you, Bok?
Hey! I got an idea. Let’s just ignore all fires and wait until they burn out. Or ignore all crimes and wait for the criminals to move. Hell, let’s just ignore the constitution and wait to see if anyone cares. Oh, wait. We’ve already done that . . .sigh . . .
Though this impeachment inquiry isn’t about that, for once Bok has a point. I don’t know about you all, but I’m a bit wary. Can there be a fair election?
Did we say “Why impeach Nixon, let’s just let him serve out his term in office”? No, he committed crimes and if he hadn’t resigned it was proper to impeach and convict him. We need to make a statement about what’s gone over the line. If we don’t like Trump’s policies, we should vote him out of office. If he committed crimes or abused his powers, then he should be impeached and convicted.

Is Bok implying that #45 should not be in office?

We trust elections. Elections without foreign interference. Hard to come these days…

Why is the constitutional mechanism of impeachment less legitimate than the constitutional mechanism of the Electoral College?

Trump has on numerous times said he won’t go willingly. The impeachment may be the thing we need to keep this from becoming a civil war.
