class act calling the LEO’s idiots. they were bound by the rules of the politicians (mayor, council members, police chief) in charge. before you start flinging p*o like a monkey, think things through.
From my comment on Clay Bennet’s cartoon comparing Trump and the Uvalde Law enforcement:
===
It wasn’t that Trump never responded, it was that he, along with his fellow conspirators, were doing everything they could to complete the violent overthrow of the American government.
From evidence presented, the Trump Republican effort was blunted by the combination of Pence’ refusal, the courage and competence of the DC police under fire, and the Secret Service refusal to drive Trump to the Capitol to allow him to lead the mob. If ANY of those things don’t happen, we would be living in a very different country today, and MANY more would have died that day and subsequently.
.
The Uvalde police were just incompetent, at least collectively. At least part of the problem was that there were police from different organizations and no one knew what to do.
Side thought: Interesting to contemplate if it had been military, but with some army, some coast guard, and some marine units, what actions they would have taken. Would it have been different?
===
Addendum:
It’s also possible that it being Texas, governed by Republican POSs*, has a lot to do with it. Republicans HATE governeing almost as much as they hate democracy. There’s no doubt that the mix of LE orgs contributed to the inaction.
But then, Republicans hate assigning responsibilities and LE is used to obeying the whims of Abbott and others, and he was probably busy eliminating rape in Texas. Or something.
.
Or is it PsOS?
.
In any case, Abbott and other Republicans don’t seem much interested in determining exactly what happened.
They are more interested in ‘hardening’ schools and giving teachers guns and taking away their books.
You know I don’t really like to criticize cops on the beat. For the last two years police have been under attack by the left, defund and all that shizmat. These cops were under orders specifically to not enter that classroom by their leaders, so that’s where the buck stops. Now, I have an opinion that prior to the “Floyd summer of love” that some of these officers would have made the decision to charge the room. The reasoning being, hey the boss ins in his office and I’m boots on the ground listening to kids getting shot, frack this, I’m going in. So, I place the blame on far left Democrat extremists and the local leadership.

The officer seen sanitizing his hands was about to perform first aid. It was an intelligent precaution.
