Thanks for reminding us with this total fabrication about how the some in the border patrol on the actual border treats asylum seekers. The only thing that got “rounded up” when immigrants were illegally flown into Martha’s Vineyard were meals and temporary shelter for the victims of a cruel plot by authoritarian nationalist governors.

Gov. Ron “Florida Man” DeSantis’ stunt flopped and now the RWNJs have to lie to cover that up.

Wow…that is some secret operation similar to DeSantis’ political stunt.

Florida Maga Attorney General and election subverter Ashley Moody celebrated Gov. Ron DeSantis’ illegal, cruel and xenophobic political stunt on (where else?) FOX “News”, and wants to wreak more harm on Martha’s Vineyard. Moody whined that “Americans are dying at record rates because the border is open and there’s fentanyl,” without citing any statistics or facts to support her fear mongering. “We should have just put fentanyl on [the charter flight], too, and see how (spit) Martha’s Vineyard would have dealt with fentanyl coming into their city and how their people would have dealt with that and how their law enforcement would have been able to handle that!”

Notice how Chip made his depiction of the legal, asylum-seeking migrants, who were from Venezuela, as Mestizo Mexicans. Classic dehumanization of a people, making cruelty and inhumanity against them easier to swallow.

Maga Republicans really don’t want to have immigration reform, and won’t even discuss it. Their policy is “Starve the Beast” by cutting funds and resources, and then blame Democrats when it fails. When they were in power, their “solution” was deterrence and cruelty. Thus, children were separated from their parents, who were immediately deported or disappeared. Others were rounded up and herded into for-profit labor camps prior to deportation. Asylum seekers were not allowed into the country, and immigration lawyers were fired in order to overload the system (Denial of Service by intent). Bills to increase HHS and Border Patrol spending were blocked.

Magas crave the same sadism – exert as much cruelty and misery on the undesirables as possible without actually killing them – and never want to come up with actual policies to deal with the problem. It’s too convenient a weapon. Fortunately, this cartoon is a complete lie. The good people of Martha’s Vineyard welcomed the immigrants with open arms and humanitarian aid until the Republican governor of Massachusetts could step in and provide them a more stable environment on Joint Base Cap Cod.

But, this cartoon is what Republicans were HOPING would happen, and since miserable fantasy is their stock-in-trade, I’m not surprised to see it.
