I keep seeing the government of China referred to as “Communist China,” or the “Chinese Communist Party.” I would assert that the use of the word “Communist” is used here to trigger the almost irrational fear of that word after the nonsense of the 1950s. Yes, the ruling party in China calls itself “communist,” but the system they actually have is NOT communist; it is a heavily government-controlled market economy.
