Anything and everything to stay in power except: Values, morals, ethics, vision, and appealing to a broader spectrum of voters.

The Republican party has to take more extreme measures to stay in power because they represent a diminishing constituency.

As expected, Texas goes bigger than anywhere else. In trimming Democracy, whereas other Red states use puny Weed Wackers, Texas goes right for a heavy-duty chainsaw that would clear out a forest of redwoods. I imagine Texas lawmakers sing in chorus to Abbott, “He’s a lumberjack, and he’s so swell / He slash-cuts lib’ral laws to Hell“ … (apology to “Monty Python”)

If there is a god, when Abbott dies he’ll be spending eternity as a tiny useless, powerless speck (heck, he already is that) in the reincarnated Ann Richards, come back to govern Texass out of the 1600’s. Time would crawl past infinitely slowly. That would certainly be hell for him.

GOP knows they can’t get a win unless they cheat! They’re always in the “crisis” mode and running scared! That’s why they use any tactic to try to convince people.

    Boneless cowards!

Inside Trump and Eastman’s Jan. 2 ‘Big Lie’ call with more than 300 GOP state legislators

Trump was on the call along lawyers John Eastman — who wrote a memo outlining how Vice President Mike Pence could disregard the 2020 Electoral College vote and install Trump for another term — and Rudy Giuliani, who Michigan House Republicans allowed to lead a long post-election hearing airing myriad baseless right-wing election conspiracy theories.

The call with 300 state legislators was a strategy session on decertifying 2020 presidential election results. Michigan’s Board of State Canvassers approved in November President Joe Biden’s more than 154,000-vote victory over Trump and Michigan’s electors cast their ballots for Biden in December.

“You are the real power," Trump told the state lawmakers, according to the Washington Examiner. “You’re the ones that are going to make the decision."

The Post also reported that Giuliani ran a “command center" at the Willard, a Washington, D.C., hotel, plotting with Eastman and other Trump loyalists like Stephen Bannon about how to overturn the 2020 election.

McBroom told the Post he did not hear such evidence and didn’t support efforts to delay the vote count. However, a majority of the GOP caucus in the Michigan Senate went on to sign a letter asking members of Congress to examine baseless allegations of election fraud.

In June, the Senate Oversight Committee led by McBroom released a 35-page report concluding that there was no widespread evidence of voter fraud and debunking several conspiracy theories.

“Our clear finding is that citizens should be confident the results represent the true results of the ballots cast by the people of Michigan," the report reads. “The committee strongly recommends citizens use a critical eye and ear toward those who have pushed demonstrably false theories for their own personal gain."

    Trump was incensed.

Their project to cancel balloting in swing states is well under way and other Republican controlled state legislatures are following suit. Be aware — it’s going on now.

Timothy Snyder, author of “On Tyranny” warns that the effort to steal the 2024 election has been under way for some time, now – and it’s more dangerous than in 2020. “A failed coup is a trial run for a successful coup.”

Republicans are buoyed by their ignorant supporters (we’ve seen them as trolls right here on Go Comics) who are literally cheering for their own executions by being blinded by pure, visceral, knee-jerk hatred for 2/3 of the people of this country.

We are now in the situation where we only have to let the Republicans win once, and then democracy and our freedoms will be lost forever. Misery, cruelty, criminality, oppression, wars, disease, and climate change affecting millions of people is the Republican dystopia.

Florida tЯц❄p-wannabe Gov. Ron DeSantis has invited law enforcement officers around the country to come to Florida if they lose their jobs because they refuse to receive the Covid-19 vaccine. Basically, they want an anti-VAX, anti-mask, brown-shirt police force.

He cites a “scientific basis”, saying anti-VAX police have probably already had COVID, and so are automagically immune, and their anti-vaccine stand for “freedom” makes them excellent, “no-nonsense” law enforcement officers.

For once I agree with montana bill (never thought I’d write those words). Every single person that objects to the current (and future) evisceration of democracy and freedom that texas has become should move out of the state. It would be delightful to watch 60% of the population of the state leave. cutting their population and representation in half, seeing the states tax base evaporate, seeing texas become the third world country they are fighting to become. All loyal Americans…you’ve got 49 other states to live in. Go there!
