The NRA is operating as a bulldozer to clear the way for everyone to own a gun, even when they shouldn’t. Lapierre has blamed gun violence o those who are mentally ill but is against any restrictions for mental illness.

There are a number of valid reasons to restrict access to guns. Those with restraining orders against them should not be allowed to own or even handle guns. Those who have displayed road rage should not be allowed to own guns. A few years ago, the son of one of the directors of the NRA drew a gun in a road rage incident. No one with any history of violence should be allowed to own guns. And that’s just for starters… …

In addition to the Highland Park mass shooting celebrated by gun violence advocates:

    Chattanooga 3 dead 11 wounded

    Phoenix 2 wounded

    Boston 11 wounded

    Sacramento 1 dead 4 wounded

    Richmond 1 dead

    Kansas City 4 dead

    Kenosha 1 dead 4 wounded.

Gary Indiana 3 dead 7 wounded

    .

A banner day indeed for gun violence advocates.

NRA is evil. The more violence (mass shootings, riots, violent overthrow of governments) the more their product sells. At one point they were interested and promoted gun safety, now it is all about the right to sell guns.

Mass shootings get the headlines, but the daily toll includes hundreds—thousands— killed, wounded, threatened, terrorized, traumatized, maimed, and mourning. The ripple effects of gun arrogance and gun violence affect us all. The culture must change

The shooting in Highland Park. would not have happen if it wasn’t a gun free zone. The shooter had no choice but to start shooting.

Add zoos to schools, parades, grocery stores, music venues, trains, streets, churches, anywhere in public, I guess. Ah, gun freedom. Ain’t it great.

    @ new squiggles:

Let’s look at societies that have unlimited access to weapons: Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia….so many. And look how lovely life is in those societies.

Here’s an idea: why wait for people who don’t want to be shot to leave this country? Why don’t you go to where guns are ubiquitous and, as a plus, religious fervor is often ratcheted up to 11? See how happy you’ll be among your fellow peeps.

    - “Our society would heal if all Democrats who hate America left.”

(First, Democrats don’t hate America, but is this an advocate for a “final solution”? I heard plenty of that “love it or leave it crap” when I was drafted, along with the “you’re with us or against us” crap to get us into Iraq)

    - “Democrats are the party of the ku klux klan”

(actual history is fiction to him, and denial that there was a 180 degree switch)

    - “we republicans never embraced the kkk, that’s Democrat stuff right there”

(flat-out denial – and they totally embrace KKK racism now)

    - “end the destructive federal education system”

(the what? Is that the same as the “Deep State”? WTF is he blathering about?)

    - “I don’t take meds like an average American serf”

(“no, I just totally get off on anti-American right wing propaganda!”)

    - “What about Truth Social?”

(LOL. The platform under investigation for criminal conspiracy? The platform that bans you if you question their crap? The platform grifting money from suckers like you?)

Because President Obama had the intelligence to issue an Executive Order to ban gun sales to mentally disturbed people, it was the right thing to do. Then comes ‘45’ who rescinded it and there you have it!!

I am not sure if I can explain this clearly. Guns(particularly, rifles)are way easier to spot than: a. Criminals, b. Crazies, c. Bad guys, d. Assorted freaks whose reality-tethers have frayed. In the past, I could figure that someone walking down the street wearing body-armor and carrying an AR-15 at port arms was probably a, b, c, or d and so could avoid them. Now, I am expected to avoid a, b, c, d by the wild glint of sociopathy in their eyes ’cause “everybody” has a right to buy, own, carry a gun openly or concealed. I liked it better when I could identify a, b, c, d just by looking.
