“… WASHINGTON, Feb 15 (Reuters) – The U.S. special counsel leading a criminal probe into President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, said a former FBI informant was charged with lying about the pair’s alleged involvement in business dealings with Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings.

In a statement on Thursday, Special Counsel David Weiss, opens new tab said a federal grand jury had indicted Alexander Smirnov, 43, on charges of making a “false statement” and “creating a false and fictitious record” in relation to an FBI probe. Smirnov faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison if convicted.

Burisma and Hunter Biden’s role at the company have been heavily scrutinized, opens new tab following unproven claims from Republican former President Donald Trump and others that Democrat Joe Biden improperly tried to help his son’s business interests in Ukraine. The White House has denied the claims.

Smirnov was arrested on Wednesday at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada, after his arrival in the U.S. from overseas, Weiss said.It was not immediately clear whether Smirnov had an attorney.

The indictment unsealed on Thursday appeared to deal a blow to the Republican accusations that the U.S. president profited from his son’s business in Ukraine. …" — reuters.Com/legal/ex-fbi-informant-charged-with-lying-about-biden-his-son-special-counsel-says-2024-02-15/

“… LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former FBI informant who claims to have links to Russian intelligence and is charged with lying about a multimillion-dollar bribery scheme involving President Joe Biden’s family was again taken into custody Thursday in Las Vegas, two days after a judge released him.

Alexander Smirnov, 43, was arrested Thursday morning while meeting with his lawyers at their offices in downtown Las Vegas. It came after prosecutors asked a judge in California, where the case originally was filed, to reconsider Smirnov’s custody status while he awaits trial. No hearing was held before he was arrested.

His attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, said in a statement they want an immediate hearing on his detention and will again push for his release. A judge in Las Vegas gave prosecutors until Friday afternoon to respond to Smirnov’s motion for a new hearing.

A copy of the arrest warrant that Smirnov’s lawyers included as an exhibit in their request for the new hearing shows he was arrested on the same charges — making a false statement and creating a false and fictitious record. …" — apnews.Com/article/hunter-biden-fbi-informant-lying-bribery-burisma-e6de5f083e7ea7c2f1aa6233d24d7cfd

“… The judge’s decision rebuked claims from the Justice Department that Smirnov should be detained due to his ties to Russian intelligence.

Justice Department prosecutors said Smirnov admitted officials associated with Russian intelligence were involved in planting the false narrative of Hunter Biden’s involvement with Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

Prosecutors also alleged Smirnov made plans to leave the United States to meet with “multiple foreign intelligence agencies” who could relocate him.

The unusual move means Smirnov will have to argue for his release once more. Prosecutors said they already plan to reassert their same concerns to the California judge.

Smirnov was arrested last Thursday in Nevada on two felony false statement charges for allegedly lying to the FBI. Among many false claims were his that the president and his son each received $5 million bribes from Burisma, according to the indictment.

The House GOP-led impeachment inquiry of the president has long used Smirnov’s now discredited claims as the basis for its investigation into the Bidens.

Smirnov faces a maximum of 25 years in prison if convicted. He has not yet entered a plea. …" — upi.Com/Top_News/US/2024/02/22/alexander-smirnov-arrested-again-lying-fbi/2571708645730/

“… Fox News co-host Jessica Tarlov mocked House Republicans on Wednesday for their pursuit of impeachment charges against President Biden.

“This is the path that they’ve chosen to take, and honestly I’m surprised that they have this high of a threshold for humiliation,” Tarlov said during an appearance on the network. “Every witness they have called has decimated their argument.”

Tarlov’s comments come a week after an indictment of the FBI informant at the center of the GOP’s allegations against Biden. The Department of Justice (DOJ) alleged that the informant, Alexander Smirnov, made up information involving the Bidens, including his claim that the then-vice president and his son, Hunter Biden, each accepted a $5 million bribe.

The DOJ alleged Smirnov’s claims regarding Hunter Biden came from Russian intelligence personnel.

Members of the House GOP have made Hunter Biden’s business dealings central to their impeachment push, which the White House has dismissed as partisan and lacking merit.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) on Wednesday told reporters on Capitol Hill that the Smirnov indictment “doesn’t change the fundamental facts” of his caucus’s case against the president.

“It’s so embarrassing,” Tarlov, who serves as a liberal panelist on the popular table talk program “The Five,” said. “I think [Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.)] was spot on when he said this impeachment really ended yesterday, when we found out that we have a Russian asset that is foundational to this impeachment inquiry.” …" — thehill.Com/homenews/media/4481267-fox-news-host-surprised-gop-threshold-humiliation-biden-probe/

But what is Fox saying? “See! If someone threatens the Democrats, they arrest them!”

We should be arresting Jorden and Comer — for knowingly using false information (and I’d put money on it that they knew it was from a Russian operative) to slander the President of the United States and disrupt our government. They are clearly doing Putin’s bidding,

That’s brilliant artwork. The logo on the key, done using shading, looks totally 3D. Zooming right in I can see the lines are drawn by hand. The key fob and key ring are so well done. And the shading and shadows.

I’d love to see how this kind of drawing is done.

I predict that the GOP will still hold an impeachment vote for President Biden, even though their entire case has imploded. It doesn’t matter to them that anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows they are idiots because the GQP is not playing for you or me. Their mark isn’t the well-educated or the critical-thinking voter; their target is, for lack of a better term, the stupid voter, one who can be manipulated with shiny things and who only lets their chaotic emotions rule their lives.

It is the same reason those emails that arrive from a Nigerian Prince asking for money have spelling and punctuation mistakes. Intelligent people ask too many questions, so they want to eliminate them from the con immediately. Clever people have an annoying habit of investigating claims and going to multiple sources for their information. The person running the con can’t have that.

The Republicans are taking orders from Trump, a narcissist and con man who has a room-temperature I.Q. but excels in one crucial area: he knows what buttons to push to get Joe-six-pack and Mary-housecoat engaged. Once he places the hook, those poor, deluded folks will hand over their money and their freedom without question, and they will do it with a smile. Therefore, the impeachment will proceed without a crime. The vote will be taken and Trump will get to say on the campaign trail that Biden is an impeached President as well.

They refuse to be influenced by facts. Their quest for sabotage of the Biden presidency continues without remorse. I hope that the millions of sane people who see their shenanigans show up and vote blue for all the elections in the future.

Looks like Biden had just drunk some vodka while trying to go up the steps to AF1 again. They’re letting him enter by way of the cargo hold, as he doesn’t have the stamina to go up the steps to the main entrance as all the other POTUS’s have done, and now he trips on the short steps. He probably took the “short bus” to school with Corn Pop too.

Coulda been drawn with a crack pipe, instead. Of course, that would include the possibility of fentanyl laced contents.

Not that I’d advocate this outcome for the present RWNJ MAGA GOP.
