Blame the Temperance movement for the Volstead Act (18th Amendment) which brought on Prohibition. This small but vocal group (think Tea Party) through the banning of alcohol, affected the amount of taxes collected to such a degree that Congress was forced to create the IRS. Up until this time, taxes paid on alcohol were more than enough to run our Government…Small short-sighted group affected us all.

hahah poor right-wing snow flakes. “you can’t be too rich” and the rich have made sure the middle class pays the taxes so they can not take away too much of the upper 1% cash they hardly earned. You should whine more about taxes so the rich will get another break for next year.

Cut a reasonable amount from the ACTUAL “defense” budget, like 30%, almost all from contracting for junk we don’t need, or more bombs we don’t need to DEFEND America instead of killing them foreigners, and their kids, and that tax bill could drop a bunch. OR make the 1% and corporations pay their ACTUAL dues instead of their whiny SUPPOSED bill, and the middle class could cut their taxes by about 70%. Why does GE keep getting huge rebates when they don’t PAY any taxes on their profits?
