Y’know, I’m surprised ( pleasantly ) that these, ‘incompetents anonymous’ strips aren’t drawing any poltical commentary… at least none that I’ve seen. For sure, the temptation is there.
Cmon guys; Horace is locked in the company’s washroom at 8 p.m., possibly on a weekend night. The cell-tower light shows an empty parking lot. Horace is stuck there until some other incompetent remembers to turn on his alarm, then wake up when it rings, and suceeds in getting to work.THEN, when that incompetent needs to relieve himself, he’ll discover Horace locked in the washroom, and he’ll stop calling Horace’s house to find out why he’s not at work.
Yeah, Saskfan got it right! It ‘s supposed to be a cross section of the building, but obviously I’m still learning my craft… 8-)Oh and I will add the bathroom sign onto the other door. That’s what I get for trying to make fun of incompetence, ha ha!
Northern Hemisphere, Moon illuminated on the right side (curved like a letter D) is the Waxing Moon. It is visible in the west in the evening, as it follows the setting sun.
Moon illuminated on the left side (curved like the letter C) is the Waning Moon, visible in the east in the early morning as it rises ahead of the sun.
D Moon = “Debut” of the lunar cycle.C Moon = “Conclusion” of the lunar cycle.Full Moon = Fully across the sky from the sun.
If you are in the Southern Hemisphere, reverse the above.
What else is weird is that the cartoon changed since I first loaded it an hour or 2 ago. His quote changed from something like ’It’s locked!’ The vent hole appeared in the wall to the parking lot (it was solid before). And the moon changed position. It was higher in the sky and facing the other direction. There may have been other changes I missed -I accidentally refreshed the page and it updated to the new image.
Maybe if we wait Samson will update to another image later today?
The first thing I originally noticed that seemed strange is that the sign on the door is on the inside of the restroom instead of the outside. Or does it lead to another restroom? Who knows, the place is supposed to be incompetently designed.
We always used DOC to remember the phases of the moon: D-crescent, just East of the sun, then O full moon, then C crescent, West of the sun before morning. But this moon, as thin a crescent and at that angle, shows a setting sun, or not even set, just to the right of the last panel.

The other door in the back could be a fully-enclosed “stall.” Horace should feel right at home there.

And yeah, the moon… I was sure I didn’t get it right without checking. I’ll get back to it…

Should not a single vehicle be in the parking lot? Horace’s?
This one is definitely a brain tester. Nice attempt at the Hitchcockian “Rear Window” effect.

OK, more Moon stuff!

@benbrilling
Yeah, I made those changes to get the idea across better. Without a sign on the door it can look like a way out, etc.
I think I’m done with this particular strip now, ha!

How can you lock yourself IN the bathroom? I can see locking yourself OUT of the bathroom, The lock is on the INSIDE of the door.
lemon868 over 11 years ago
I think he’s pulling on the door, rather than pushing! Most doors open OUT to the outside.
Coyoty Premium Member over 11 years ago
They put the sign on the inside and the lock on the outside because they’re incompetent. Duh.
