    About giving extra in poetry.

    There once was a man from Japan,

    Whose verses would rhyme but not scan.

    When his friends told him so,

    He replied, “yes I know”,

    But I like to put as many extra and superfluous syllables into the last line as I conceivably can.

    I used to have a Siamese cat who liked to sit out on the end of a plywood plank extending from my balcony. It was counterweighted by a potted pine tree. One day he sauntered out, but I had moved the tree for cleaning. As the plank gave way, he was fast enough to run up onto the balcony before the plank fell. That was one fast cat.
