Trigger Doom grappled with Tracy in 1941. https://dicktracy.fandom.com/wiki/Jimmy_%22Trigger%22_Doom
In a novel following on from the end of the 1990 Dick Tracy movie, he was a sniper trying to disrupt Dick and Tess’s wedding. Trigger fell to his death from a rooftop. Could be a bit of foreshadowing.
Umm, Tracy? Door was locked from your side. You could have just opened it quietly and taken Kripty by surprise. Unless you wanted the gratuitous shoot-out…
Guess it took ol’ Tripnokite’s brain a few minutes to process that failed attempt. Well, what he lacks in mental acuity, planning, marksmanship, situational awareness, and looks, he makes up in… er… Dick Tracy trivia?
One – Called it.
Two – Kryptunight’s excusing his poor shooting far too much. He was on a seven-story building’s roof across the street with the full element of surprise with a semi-automatic* rifle equipped with a large magazine, telescopic sight, and a bipod. Even with (slow) moving targets, a below average marksman shouldn’t have had any difficulty hitting Dekko and at least one of the cops before the survivor(s) scrambled to cover. For an experienced and renowned assassin like Criptanite, at this very short range for that weapon, this should have been three very straightforward kills.
Three – Seriously, what the crap? Qraeptoenaight took two shots and then just stopped doing ANYTHING. Why’d he stop shooting when he didn’t kill his targets? Why did he shoot at all given the risks of attacking a group, which he probably should have recognized as law enforcement by their handling of Dekko? Why didn’t he leave after shooting, especially given his failure? What was he planning to do if he DIDN’T miss, and why isn’t he already doing that? I know Mike Curtis wants the villains to lose – and lose BADLY – but this is beyond absurd. (And let’s not even pretend this confrontation with Dick holds any danger to the hero.)
*I’m going off the weapon’s performance more than its appearance, which is that of a non-functional bolt-action.
At least Tracy is going after his crook…l don’t think he used the stairs…and Krypto The Collector is going to take a big fall. If Tracy doesn’t nail him with a mean right cross, Firestrike 01 will. It’s inevitable.
We have an idiot ‘lawyer’ here and who uses an animated bull, a man in a bull costume break dancing, and one of his partners running to an accident at super speed accompanied by cartoon running sounds. Yeah, pathetic. Makes me glad I switched from law to another program. As bad as the nut lawyer on HARRY’S LAW.
As quickly Tracy scaled that high building (REAL cops don’t wipe out and use elevators!), I now hear that sound in my mind.
Kryptonite; you want to try and “bag” Tracy? Now’s your chance,. Kind of close for the weapon you’re holding, but for a killer like you, you should be able to adapt. But of course, you won’t succeed.
Another minor thing that bothers me… I always felt that Tracy’s trenchcoat was yellow because either: (a) that was the closest color available, or (b) bright colors were used often to make the “funny pages” jump out at you. In my mind, Tracy’s trenchcoat, in the strip’s world, was supposed to be no different than any other man’s trenchcoat. It seems to me that the current writer views it as something like a superhero’s costume, which is no surprise, given his obsession with comic books, cosplay, and superheroes
Yeah as predicted krytonite is dumb as dirt. he had all the time in the world to just walk away but no, he has to stand there while tracy runs across the plaza, rides the elevator, gets the service door open etc etc etc. moron.
So, the highly-touted hitman, Kryptonite, turns out to be incompetent and dumber than the average thug: he misses two shots at close-enough range with a scope-equipped, suppressor-equipped, bipod-equipped rifle; doesn’t try to shoot again; but does just stand around soliloquizing long enough for Tracy to get up his rooftop perch, kick out the roof-door, and confront him? What a maroon!
In the forthcoming Sunday showdown, Tracy could shoot him, either fatally or just wounding him; or he could jump or fall off the roof of the Baxter Building to his death; or he could surrender non-violently [which no doubt the TCA syndicate would like, though fans would not] or after a brief struggle/fistfight with Tracy. Whatever way, his hitman career is over; keeping him alive would have the advantage of giving him time to sing about Paul Chandler….

and who the-hell is Trigger Doom?…

Wow, it took Tracy about 10 seconds to run a block and climb up at least 8 flights of stairs. Amazing.
I see Kryptonite is still black and not white.

Mike’s still with the name dropping but at least it’s a Tracy character.

Doggone it, the hit man hung around. Due to his pride combined with an adrenalin rush, the guy won’t freeze. He’ll try to shoot his way out.

What’s next? Blam! Blam! He falls off the roof…look out below and that’s all she wrote.

Odds are this guy won’t have any identification on him, however chances are that MCU got a file on him.

Dick Tracy has a yellow coat, the color of a rotten moat. His jaw is square, his fists are bare, his punches hurt more than what l wrote.

A character like Kriptonite (sp?) expresses frustration with ‘Dang’? And Dick Tracy is the only cop in the world wearing a yellow trenchcoat? Uh-huh.

1-KRIPTO: I guess I shoulda sighted this in before taking her out for a spin. Wait…
2-…Lemme look again. Maybe I did hit one. Or gave one a heart attack… Nope. Looks like they all went home safe and sound.
3-DT: FREEZE! DROP IT LIKE IT’S HOT! HANDS UP! THE JIG IS UP! CRIME DON’T PAY! DON’T BE A FOOL – STAY IN SCHOOL!
KRIPTO: Well now – if I miss from here – sighted in or not – I’m retiring!
DT: IT’S A POOR WORKMAN WHO BLAMES HIS TOOLS! Uh oh…

He’s on top of the Baxter Building, which has Willie Lumpkin inside, talking about a man named Doom. I’m LOVING the nods to Fantastic Four this week.
