So, my bank has one of those bill pay programs. I have ignored it for years. They say it is the most secure way to pay. Ok, I submitted the info for them to pay my water and sewer bill to the town. The bill pay service mailed a check from a city 1800 miles away with my bank and account info on it. It took ten days for the city hall to receive it. Next quarter, I think I’ll just go back to walking down the street and handing it to them…

I just paid $35 for 80 checks—more for less, like everything else. Patty is right—auto-pay everything. Just write checks for B-Days and one-up events… Save on stamps too…!

1: Americans spell cheque incorrectly; 2: your account number is on the cheque, along with your signature … talk about pertinent information!

I resisted online bill paying for years. I finally gave it a whirl and will not go back to checks and snail mail. Nothing has gotten lost in the mail, and everything is paid on time. I am fortunate enough not to have to worry about insufficient funds and I do keep any eye on everything. Some things I pay with my credit card to get the cash back rewards; other things are paid from my checking account.
