“A mid-air collision occurred today. A small craft was struck by an unseen larger one at an estimated altitude of 75 feet AGL and snagged on the landing gear. Eventually the smaller craft was able to break loose and landed without further incident and minimum damage. No report from the larger craft.
There were no fatalities short of someone’s pride.”
Oh no, Wheeler. Break free fast. I once saw a hawk snag a dove midair. I will never forget the look of doom in that dove’s eyes. She knew she was going to be the hawk’s mid day snack.
Heh. Bald eagles are fish eagles (mostly; they’ll eat anything they can catch, but they prefer fish) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bald_eagle
Bald eagles are very bad at hunting other birds in the air (on the ground, or on the water, that’s different; my sister used to live in deep, deep, deep backwoods Michigan, about 5 miles south of Canada. There were bald eagles nesting in a tree across the creek from her, and swans nesting on the ground a bit further up, and ducks all over. The eagles, not being idiots, left the swans alone, but zapped numerous ducks right off the water.) If you want air-to-air hunting, you want a falcon or a hawk.
